In recent weeks, Univision News has offered fresh demonstrations that its biases extend far beyond immigration. The two examples below give us a further glimpse into the leading U.S. Spanish-language network’s institutional biases, and its commitment to progressive politics.

Readers of this byline know that I have been a relentless critic of Univision’s news division. These criticisms have covered the network’s biased coverage of the news of the day, its institutional practice of advocacy journalism in furtherance of progressive policies (amnesty being the most prominent of many), and its general boosterism of Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy.

However, the statements he makes while continuing to milk the incident reveal inconsistencies that cannot go unexamined.

Newscasts all across the nation (including both Univision and Telemundo) led with news of the awful shooting at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. The tone of the coverage on the Spanish-language networks should surprise no one.
