Sean Hannity (full disclosure, I write columns at his website) was in the middle of his Thursday night live television show on Fox when there was, as they say, breaking news - from The New York Times. The news? The Times had just posted a story saying the Justice Department had seized the phone records of a New York Times reporter.

On Friday, ABC’s Good Morning America was the only network morning show to devote air time to former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s frivolous attempt to subpoena President Trump to testify in his lawsuit against the NFL. The broadcast treated the publicity stunt as serious news, with co-host Michael Strahan breathlessly proclaiming a “legal face-off shaping up” between the two men.

What comes to mind when you recall classic comedies like Animal House, Caddyshack and Vacation? Bawdy? Outrageous? Subversive? Certainly hilarious. Those films, either created by or delivered with the National Lampoon imprimatur, changed the face of comedy. And they did so without bowing to any special interest demands.

Thursday’s Hardball featured MSNBC host Chris Matthews spending two separate segments sucking up to former Obama foreign policy and intelligence officials John Brennan and Ben Rhodes, complimenting the former for “know[ing] so much” and the latter for his “beautiful” new book defending his role in the far-left Obama legacy.

Ralph Peters, retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and former Fox News Analyst, appeared on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 on Wednesday night. His first TV appearance since leaving Fox showed he had nothing but ill will toward his former network.
