Between calls for gun control, the demise of Roe v. Wade, and the regular news cycle, it was a year where the hosts of late night traded in their jokes for liberal rants, lectures, and other wandering pontifications. So, without further ado, here are the top -- or maybe bottom 10 -- moments of late night 2022.

A long New York Times Christmas Day editorial, pompously titled “How Americans Can Stand Against Extremism,” made a mountain of right-wing intolerance out of one or perhaps two molehills of ideologically motivated vandalism. The Times even illustrated its editorial with a picture of the cracked window. The lack of proof that it was a politically motivated attack didn’t matter…

Sometimes you can hear some confounding snippets when you flip over to National Public Radio. On Tuesday's talk show Fresh Air, the guest was New York Times reporter Matt Richtel, discussing his series about teenage angst in a series called "The Inner Pandemic."

The media had barely even mentioned this story.

In a recently viral video a teacher expressed his (I think) worries and anxiety about alerting his class that he’s transgender. The teacher sought advice from his TikTok followers on how to address questions of confused children in his class. 

For the love of God, does “gender affirming care” have to be wrapped into every single one of Biden’s “strategies?!"

On Dec, 13 the Children’s Museum of Richmond tweeted about its latest Pride Night. The museum was thrilled at the turnout after inviting LGBTQIA+ families and the group “can’t wait to do it again.”

In St. Petersburg, Florida, a group of organizers set a goal to create the largest “drag queen story time” in hopes of earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Blaze reported that the event will be full of political discussion, activism and drag queens reading to kids.

After Wednesday’s congressional hearings on the Colorado Springs Club Q shooting and violence and threats of violence against LGBT people, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports and CNN’s Inside Politics with John King came to the same conclusion: it’s conservatives’ fault.

Initiated due to her own account of being sexually assaulted, popular author JK Rowling, funded Biera’s Place in Edinburgh, Scottland to help women in crises. Rowling is admittedly against the idea that trans women are women and received pushback against her rape help center.
