WASHINGTON — Many years ago, in the early 1980s, I was drawn ever so transiently into the bureaucratic intricacies of the Roman Catholic Church in America. There was a saintly priest at Indiana University, Rev. James Higgins, who was driven from the university's Newman Center to a parish some 20 miles away from campus. The archbishop of Indianapolis replaced him with two utter lightweights.

A Jewish comedian is poking fun at “Allah” now, thanks to those Christian “motherf***ers.” On Wednesday, Sarah Silverman’s Hulu show, I Love You, America, released a trailer for its upcoming second season, which begins Sept. 6. In the clip, Silverman addressed her Christian critics by courting Islamic critics. At least one person found it funny: herself.

Fact: The Washington Post is anti-Trump. Scenario: a former Trump administration official writes an op-ed in the Post that contains an explosive accusation. When the press confronts Trump with allegation, he says “you have a sufficient journalistic ability to make a conclusion (Except Jim Acosta -- you’re fake news).” Then the White House goes silent on the issue, refusing comment.

Unfortunately, a Canadian dramatic television series on the CW, Burden of Truth, has fallen for the usual lazy trope of painting a church minister as overly zealous. He tries to punish a bunch of teenage girls, including his own daughter, for becoming ill from a neurological disease.
