Bias by Omission

On Saturday, the major broadcast networks dedicated airtime to the liberal Tax Day protests against President Trump as one network aired a crowd chanting “lock him up,” another refused to acknowledge the anti-Trump violence in California, and all of them declined to label the demonstrations. This coverage of April 15 protests by liberals stood in stark contrast to how ABC, CBS, and NBC dismissed…

Thursday at NewsBusters, I noted that all of the major-media "fact-checking" efforts recognized by Duke University's ReportersLab.org website lean left, and that almost all of them are quite decidedly on the left. That only begins to explain how the "fact-checkers" are distorting the news landscape.

Univision's news division is particularly adept at covering stories that could be of interest to its national audience, while at the same time burying any element of the story that could be damaging to the network's narrative arc or business interests. The most recent example of that bias by omission comes via Univision's coverage of MS-13's murder spree in Long Island, New York.
