Politico issued an emergency note addressing claims that it receives indirect payments from government agencies through subscriptions to its Politico Pro service. The note avoids naming USAID, the agency at the center of the controversy. Politico insists it is privately owned with no government funding. But millions of money in subscriptions is government funding.
