FLASHBACK: 20 Years Since Sawyer’s ‘Pizza and Milkshake’-Inspired Bill Clinton Dream

Journalists who trashed Donald Trump have since shown their corruption by displaying no interest in speaking truth to Joe Biden. But that won't’t be a shock to anyone who has watched the press cover past Democratic presidents. They don't just fawn, they dream about Democrats! It was 20 years ago today that Diane Sawyer, a Good Morning America host and World News anchor, blurted out her weird Bill Clinton vision.

On the July 10, 2001 GMA, after a segment on why Republicans have more nightmares than Democrats, Sawyer over-shared, “After pepperoni pizza and banana milkshakes once, I dreamed about Bill Clinton.”

But Sawyer, supposedly a serious journalist, made no attempt to hide her love for the Clintons. When Hillary dropped out of the 2008 presidential race, Sawyer compared her… to Jesus Christ.

As we know this morning, there is another ground-breaking, crossroads moment. That is for Senator Hillary Clinton, who ran her campaign on her own terms. This woman, as we said, forged into determination and purpose her whole life. As someone said, ‘No thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown.’”

— ABC’s Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, June 4, 2008, quoting a 17th century discourse about Jesus Christ.

On the potential of a Hillary Clinton for Senate campaign back in the ‘90s, Sawyer was practically beside herself:

“She emerged on health care, only to beat a very bruised retreat. She clearly hated being thought of as just Bill Clinton’s wife. But ironically, it would take his scandals, finally, to free her. Finally, last November 1998, Hillary Clinton showed the world what she could do on the campaign trail without him. Political mastery, every bit as dazzling as his, the thoughtful speech, unapologetically strong, emboldening Democrats, electing Senators. So her friends say she has really earned this campaign, this moment, if she chooses, earned it by changing herself, searching, stumbling, and at the end, by standing, not by her man, but by herself.”

— Co-host Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, March 12, 1999.

(For more on Sawyer's long history of bias, go here.) As for dreaming about Democrats. That’s not news either. In 2009, a New York Times blog recounted Barack Obama sex dreams. Hopefully we won’t hear about any of that when it comes to Joe Biden.
