'This AR-15's Got to Go!' Whoopi Is Coming for Your AR, 'I Want It!'

They’re coming for your guns. That’s a matter of fact at this point. And that intention was again announced on ABC’s The View on Tuesday, as co-host Whoopi Goldberg declared that AR-15s have “got to go” and that “I don’t want all your guns. I want that AR-15. I want it.” And despite the evidence to the contrary, co-host Sara Haines tried to gaslight viewers by claiming the slippery slope of gun-grabbing doesn’t exist.

“Listen, this AR-15's got to go,” Goldberg proclaimed to the agreement of the rest of the liberal cast, and faux conservative Tara Setmayer. “I don't care NRA, you’ve got to give that gun up. You can have your other yee-haw guns, whatever you want.”

Playing to the long-debunked falsehood that the Second Amendment was only about hunting, she whined “the AR-15 is not a hunting gun. It's not a gun where you're going to go out and shoot your dinner.” “It’s a weapon of war,” co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in seemingly unaware that knives are also used in war.

Goldberg then contrasted it to abortion in a tit-for-tat argument:

That's what it's for. You can't have it anymore. I'm not even going to tell you how pissed I am that so many folks are saying, “well you can't have what you need for your body.” Forget my body, you can't have this gun because it kills people and children. And I’m sick of it.

And while Goldberg refuses to admit it, every abortion kills a child. Abortion kills more people every year than guns. That’s not to mention that millions of law-abiding Americans own guns, not just ARs, and less than one percent are used to kill people.

Backing up Goldberg, Haines proved that she lives in a liberal bubble and has never actually conversed with a serious Second Amendment supporter. “I haven't never yet heard even a pro-gun person explain to me why these are something that we need to have in our houses, how that is at all constitutionally protected by the Second Amendment,” she huffed.

So let me be the one to do that for her. The AR platform provides a simple, stable, and easy-to-use home defense firearm. The platform is also good for varmint control and livestock protection. And contrary to Goldberg’s claims about hunting, AR-10 variants do make for good hunting rifles with their larger caliber rounds. And on the constitutionality, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and the Supreme Court has ruled that bans on popular weapons can’t stand.

Further on Haines’s ignorance, she denied the existence of the slippery slope for gun-grabbing. “Well, we know firsthand, from 1994 to 2004, as you [co-host Sunny Hostin] mentioned, we had that ban and it expired. And it wasn’t a slippery slope no one came for your other weapons. So that’s a dead point,” she bitterly proclaimed.

But that was then and this is now. As NewsBusters documented last week, CBS Mornings spent an entire segment calling for U.K., Australian, and New Zealand-style gun bans. These bans included “all semi-automatic rifles,” “private ownership of all handguns,” and “shotguns.” So much for the ‘they’re not coming for your hunting weapon’ argument. And we also have President Biden targeting 9mm, the most widely used caliber of handgun.

Goldberg was only just getting started with her unhinged rambling. At one point she demanded a law that would make “people who are part of the NRA to have to go to the funerals of these children.” Setmayer chimed in and demanded they be forced to look at pictures of dead kids.

“I don’t want all your guns. I want that AR-15. I want it. And we’re going to vote it out so it’s not going to be accessible,” Goldberg continued. “We’re not doing it anymore. I’m telling y’all. We have to vote it, we just have to put it to the vote and remove the AR-15. Keep whatever else you got, get rid of the AR-15.”

When liberals show you who they are, believe them.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Listen, this AR-15's got to go.

THE CAST (in unison): It’s got to go.

GOLDBERG: I'm sorry.

[Applause]

Because, you know, think about the people up in Buffalo who are still suffering because they still can't go shop anywhere because nobody will bring a supermarket where these folks are living. There's too much at stake here, too many lives have been at stake and too many damn little kids.

I'm sick of seeing people talking about we should do something. No, we should do seeming. I don't care NRA, you’ve got to give that gun up. You can have your other yee-haw guns, whatever you want. The AR-15 –

SUNNY HOSTIN: Has to go.

GOLDBERG: -- is not a hunting gun.

HOSTIN: It’s a weapon of war.

GOLDBERG: It's not a gun where you're going to go out and shoot your dinner. This gun is meant to kill people. That's what it's for. You can't have it anymore. I'm not even going to tell you how pissed I am that so many folks are saying, “well you can't have what you need for your body.” Forget my body, you can't have this gun because it kills people and children. And I’m sick of it.

JOY BEHAR: And since this incident, by the way, that we’re talking about, 11 other mass shootings have taken place.

GOLDBERG: Yes, over the weekend. Yeah, over the weekend.

BEHAR: I think that we should mention every day that a mass shooting has taken place.

SARA HAINES: If I could snap my fingers I’d fall on the side of I didn't see the need for AR-15s. I haven't never yet heard even a pro-gun person explain to me why these are something that we need to have in our houses, how that is at-all constitutionally protected by the Second Amendment. I haven’t gotten there in understanding that.

But because – and I also want to say it's not a slippery slope. Some people that defend AR-15s say, ‘they come of the AR-15, and then what do they come from next?” Well, we know firsthand, from 1994 to 2004, as you [Sunny Hostin] mentioned, we had that ban and it expired. And it wasn’t a slippery slope no one came for your other weapons. So that’s a dead point.

GOLDBERG: I want the NRA people to go to all the funerals.

SETMAYER: Right.

GOLDBERG: I want people who are part of the NRA to have to go to the funerals of these children.

SETMAYER: Or look at the pictures. Let them look at the pictures.

GOLDBERG: Also, I don't want all your guns the way you don't want to take away all my rights from abortion. I don’t want all your guns. I want that AR-15. I want it. And we’re going to vote it out so it’s not going to be accessible.

SETMAYER: Listen! Even Justice Scalia, who was one of the most conservative justices in the Heller case said the Second Amendment is not absolute, there are limitations on it.

HOSTIN: In fact, what he said was the right was not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever for whatever purpose. There are limits!

GOLDBERG: Scalia wasn't for it. We’re not doing it anymore. I’m telling y’all. We have to vote it, we just have to put it to the vote and remove the AR-15. Keep whatever else you got, get rid of the AR-15.
