NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell appeared on last night's "Hannity" to go over how, in Sean Hannity's words, the media welcomed Rick Perry to the race "Bachmann-style," that is with a barrage of unfair smears and even comparisons of the Texas governor to Democratic segregationist Bull Connor.
[Video follows page break, MP3 audio here]:
"He's been on the stage for five minutes and already the media have concluded he's irresponsible, he's rude, he's shallow, he's misguided, he's an idiot, in other words, he's a conservative," Bozell observed of the media's treatment of Rick Perry, adding:
It is the Michele Bachmann treatment, it's the Sarah Palin treatment, it's the Eric Cantor treatment, it's the Jim DeMint treatment, it's the Ronald Reagan treatment. Anyone who is a threat to their order in Washington, D.C., is going to be treated this way.
I think Rick Perry should be feeling pretty good right now, this means he's scoring points.
Bozell and Hannity also discussed on last night's "Media Mash" segment how CBS praised the Lone Star State's economic performance back in June but now that Gov. Perry is in the race, they've changed their tune.
