NBC News correspondent Luke Russert marveled at Code Pink's disruption of the National Rifle Association's press conference in a Friday post on Twitter: "That was probably the most effective code pink protestor I've ever seen."
BuzzFeed's Ben Smith, formerly of the liberal website Politico, joined in with his own praise of the far-left organization in a Tweet six minutes later: "Those protesters did great advance work."
Other journalists also chimed in on Twitter with their own commentary on the NRA presser. CNN's Jim Spellman issued a snarky reply to some of the policy suggestions from the gun rights group: "Another good #NRA idea: replace school buses with armored personnel carriers. #eddieeagle"
Spellman later cracked that NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre was "going to end this #NRA presser by shouting 'Wolverines!'" - an obvious reference to the 1984 movie Red Dawn.
David Gura of American Public Media, which is "the largest owner and operator of public radio stations" in the U.S., complained that "the NRA's leaders say they will not take questions at the end of their 'news conference.' #misnomer" One wonders if Gura ever complained about President Obama's many press conferences where he refused to take one question from the White House press corps.
