Huh? MSNBC's Cross Says Russia Threatening Ukraine Because Trump Undermined Democracy!

February 5th, 2022 5:05 PM

Looks like Tiffany Cross has forgotten that Joe Biden is the president. And who can blame her? We'd like to forget, too!

On her MSNBC show Saturday morning, Cross claimed Russia is currently threatening Ukraine because ... Trump!

Said Cross:

"Trump's undermining of the democratic process put America at a disadvantage on the world stage, as our adversaries joined hands against us . . . Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have declared themselves besties, and for the first time, folks, explicitly challenged America as a global power. Now, this really is no surprise, given that here at home Republicans have chosen not just to reject democracy but reality."

Let's see if we can get this straight. So, for the first time,  China and Russia are uniting to challenge America. And, remind us, who's president? But they're doing it now, with Biden in the White House, because of something Trump did? Yet whatever it was that Trump did, it obviously didn't work because—pardon the repetition—Biden is in the White House!

And what did Trump do? He undermined democracy. Okay, now it makes sense. Because Putin and Xi are such huge believers in democracy that they see America as weakened and vulnerable because of its rejection of democracy. Right!

It couldn't possibly be that Putin and Xi looked at, say, Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and saw a weak, confused, feckless shell of a man, ripe for the picking. Gotcha, Tiffany!Tiffany Cross MSNBC The Cross Connection 2-5-22

This could be the most bizarre, tortured, attempt at blame-shifting since maybe forever!

MSNBC's Tiffany Cross bizarrely claiming that, with Biden in the White House, Putin is threatening Ukraine because Donald Trump supposedly undermined democracy was sponsored in part by CVS, VisionWorks, and Verizon.

Here's the transcript.

MSNBC's The Cross Connection
2/5/22
10:00 am ET

TIFFANY CROSS: Good morning, and welcome to The Cross Connection. I'm Tiffany Cross. And we begin today's show with the ongoing take-down of democracy. The Republican National Committee formally rebuked Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their role in the January 6th investigation. Because it really doesn't matter what your voting record may be, the Republican party has become the Lannisters, in Game of Thrones. Unless you swear undying fealty to King Joffrey, aka Donald Trump, you're out! Much like Trump's former flunky, Mike Pence.

MIKE PENCE: President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone. And frankly, there's no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.

CROSS: All right, so Trump's undermining of the democratic process put America at a disadvantage on the world stage, as our adversaries joined hands against us.

Now after Biden deployed 3,000 troops to eastern Europe to support the NATO, to support NATO and the Ukraine-Russia stand-off, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have declared themselves besties, and for the first time, folks, explicitly challenged America as a global power. Now, this really is no surprise, given that here at home Republicans have chosen not just to reject democracy but reality. Declaring that the January 6th insurrection was, "legitimate political discourse."
