Even for a bunch of Biden lovers, sycophancy this extreme should have been embarrassing. Thursday's Morning Joe absolutely slobbered over Biden's just-concluded trip. Joe Scarborough hailed it as a triumph, saying: "I can't think of a more successful diplomatic trip in the 21st century than this one."
Yeah, other than the absence of any tangible achievements, it was awesome! Biden adviser/speechwriter Jon Meacham then took the obsequiousness to absurd heights, claiming with a straight face: "My insight, watching the press conference yesterday was, there was a kind of poetry in his prose."
Poetry in his prose? Do these people even listen to themselves when they talk?
Move over, Shakespeare: Biden's the new Bard! Come to think of it, Meacham couldn't quite keep a straight face. As you'll see in the video clip, Meacham actually laughs before launching into his "poetry in his prose" line!
Here's the moment from Meacham:
This is a very practical man, who believes in these ideals, who believes that diplomacy is hard work. As you say, it’s meat and potatoes. You just keep plugging. And there was, yeah [laughs] — I guess my interesting — my insight, watching the press conference yesterday was, there was a kind of poetry in his prose. Does that make sense? Not literally his prose, but just the whole thing. It was straightforward, and by being so straightforward, it seemed kind of elevating to me.
Seriously, how much of a toady do you have to be to find poetry in the ramblings of a man for whom the English language is a menacing minefield?
Morning Joe slobbering over President Biden's European trip was sponsored in part by Flonase, American Express, Facebook, and Chevrolet. Click on the links to let them know what you think.

Morning Joe

7:08 am EDTJOE SCARBOROUGH: I’ve just got to say, if I’m looking at everything that happened, starting with the special relationship, contrasting that will Donald Trump regularly assaulting Theresa May.
Going on to the G-7, contrasting that with Donald Trump, constantly being an irritant, asking where Vlad is, why isn’t this a G-8, why aren’t we inviting the Russians? And instead the G-7 can focus on how they were going to push back on Russian aggression.
You go to NATO, instead of Donald Trump pushing people out of the way to get to the front, again, it was more of a collective effort between all of the NATO partners, as it has been traditionally. And then, of course, the meeting with Russia.
I’ve been going back through my mind, maybe, maybe you can come up with a better week in American diplomacy overseas, over the past 20 years, in the 21st century. I’ve been trying to figure it out over the past 12 hours. I can’t think of a more successful diplomatic trip in the 21st century than this one.
. . .
