The Morning Joe crew wound themselves up into predictable outrage over Attorney General Bill Barr's Senate testimony of yesterday. Joe Scarborough capped the display of righteous indignation by calling for Barr's impeachment, hurling a couple of epithets along the way. Scarborough:
"I understand it doesn’t make political sense to impeach Donald Trump, but for the life of me I don’t know why Democrats would not start gathering evidence to impeach this man [Barr]. He is actually as dangerous in the position of Attorney General as Donald Trump is as President of the United States . . . Barr is not an Attorney General of the United States, he is Donald Trump's defense attorney. He's his lackey. He's his stooge."
Perhaps more interesting than Scarborough's call for Barr's impeachment was his acknowledgment that it "doesn't make political sense to impeach Donald Trump." Guess that makes Joe a Pelosi Democrat rather than a Tlaib/Ocasio-Cortez one.
Note: It wasn't so long ago that Joe and Mika themselves might have been called Trump's lackeys, stooges, or as Rolling Stone put it, "lapdogs." Author Matt Taibbi accused them of "a craven display of bumlicking and softballing," and described a "hot-and-sweaty ménage a trois between the candidate and Mika and Joe." The National Review also cataloged Scarborough's enthusiastic praise for Trump.
The question arises: should Joe and Mika have been impeached?
Of course, the love affair ended with a resounding thud when Trump tweeted that he turned down Joe and Mika's request to join him at Mar-a-Lago around a New Year's Eve, saying that Mika "was bleeding badly from a face-lift."
The Scarboroughs subsequently transformed themselves into perhaps Trump's most bitter MSM antagonists. Morning Joe has become a virtually unwatchable farrago of daily Trump hatred.
