Disgusted by Republicans, The View co-host Sunny Hostin suggested Thursday that we get rid of the entire party.
The hosts were discussing whether or not anti-Trump Rep. Liz Cheney [R-WY] was the “savior” for the GOP. Joy Behar brought up how former President George W. Bush was fundraising for her.
She gloated, “I ask you, panel, do you think Bush who basically left office with one of the lowest approval ratings in history, is he the man to save the Republican Party from itself and save the country from the Republican party?”
While co-host Ana Navarro was hopeful that Bush supporting Cheney was “very significant” and she could save the party she is supposedly still a member of, Sunny Hostin was not. In fact, Cheney was too conservative for Hostin. She railed against her voting record, saying the Republican party wasn't "worth saving:"
My question is really, is the Republican Party worth saving? Especially for people of color, because Liz Cheney in my view is no savior, especially for people who look like me and I dare say people who look like you [Navarro], I mean, you look at her vote, she didn't -- she voted against the George Floyd justice in policing act, she voted by the way 92% of the time voted with Trump. She voted against increasing the Covid stimulus payments. She voted against extending emergency housing assistance in response to the pandemic. She voted against expanding the Affordable Care Act and finally, last but not least, she voted against providing disaster aid for Puerto Rico in February 2020.
As Joy Behar pointed out she was better than “the alternative,” Hostin doubled down on her radical idea.
“Well, I'm saying, let's just throw out the entire Republican Party,” she demanded. Behar was at a loss for words, simply saying, “Okay,” as the audience clapped in approval. Hostin added, “What's redeemable about the Republican Party?”
But co-host Sara Haines pushed back, saying we needed to have diversity of political opinions in this country represented. She pointed out how Americans had very different ideas on big issues such as abortion and climate change. Hostin complained, “But they're against all of them.”
Even Ana Navarro disagreed with Hostin but she wouldn't change her mind that Republicans were irredeemable. "The Republican party is the QAnon party, the impeachment party, the insurrectionist party," she sneered.
Ironically, Hostin is probably in agreement with many Trump voters who voted for him in 2016 because he was an alternative to the swamp-like Republicans running. But Hostin wants the opposite outcome politically, advocating for our political system to be made up of only left-wing parties instead.

SUNNY HOSTIN: But you know everyone is talking about Liz Cheney that she's the savior of the Republican party, my question is really, is the Republican Party worth saving? Especially for people of color, because Liz Cheney in my view is no savior, especially for people who look like me and I dare say people who look like you [Navarro], I mean, you look at her vote, she didn't -- she voted against the George Floyd justice in policing act, she voted by the way 92% of the time voted with Trump. She voted against increasing the Covid stimulus payments. She voted against extending emergency housing assistance in response to the pandemic. She voted against expanding the Affordable Care Act and finally, last but not least, she voted against providing disaster aid for Puerto Rico in February 2020.
JOY BEHAR: Yeah but Sunny, The alternative is even worse than her. That’s the problem.
HOSTIN: Well, I'm saying, let's just throw out the entire Republican Party.
BEHAR: Okay. [ Applause ]
SARA HAINES: Well now that we're going there, I already think the two-party system is limiting. But in order for a democracy to be healthy you need two robust, vital parties.
BEHAR: How about 3 or 4?
HAINES: I would love more but right now we’ve proven that a third party can’t win a ticket, and divide the vote on one side or the other.
HOSTIN: What's redeemable about the Republican Party?
HAINES: Well I'm talking not Republican, but conservative ideals. And my beliefs definitely tend to fall left of this When it comes to a woman's right to choose the environment, the second amendment, immigration, you keep going, a lot of conservatives that fall in certain ideas like a certain part of that, they need to be represented, it's why we avoid monopolies in businesses.
HOSTIN: But they're against all of them.
HAINES: Or different ideas.
HOSTIN: Or different ideas, they’re against all of them.
SARA HAINES: You go back and forth. There are people who believe in those things in this country. Great swaths of them they're not being represented by Trump or the cult and with that party dying out, it's leaving it to one party, there's no check and balance when you get down to the point where there's only one dominant ideology in this country. The whole point of this country was that there was so many to choose from--
BEHAR: It used to be that way, you know, when the Republicans were sane, go back to Eisenhower if you want or Ronald Reagan although --
ANA NAVARRO: You might not agree with Liz Cheney on ideology that's the point of this government, it's a representative government. There are people who are there who I don't agree with on the left and on the right. …
HOSTIN: The Republican party is the Qanon party, the impeachment party, the insurrectionist party.
