Nets Blackout Report Inflation on Food to Spike 5 Percent Early 2022

December 28th, 2021 9:13 PM

A new report out Tuesday from the market research firm IRI showed that food prices are expected to spike five percent during the first half of 2022. While the rapid inflation the United States is expected to experience is terrible news for consumers, ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News apparently had no interest in covering the predicted spike in prices.

The evening newscasts not only ignored the IRI report, but they also snubbed a Wall Street Journal article that reported prices of cookies, candy, and other products sold in the United States will rise between six and seven percent starting in January 2022. Popular grocery brands General Mills and Campbell Soup are also expected to increase their prices in January.

In contrast to the network news coverage, Fox’s Special Report spent almost a minute on the IRI and Wall Street Journal reports. Anchor Bret Baier went to senior national correspondent Rich Edson who was in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware covering President Biden. In his report, Edson gave a summary of both the Wall Street Journal and IRI reports saying:

They’re looking at five percent food and grocery inflation for the first half of next year. They say though that varies by the type of grocery and the region where the groceries are sold. This is on top of the Wall Street Journal report that says a number of different companies are already planning on food price increases next year.

Edson also reminded viewers that these inflation rates are on top of a previous report from the Labor Department released in November which stated “The United States had inflation 6.8 percent compared to November a year prior.” Also noting that we are now experiencing “the highest level this country has seen since '82.”

This isn’t the first time the leftist media has ignored or sought to downplay inflation concerns. One could speculate that if a Republican was in the White House today, the network newscasts would find time to cover this concerning economic report.

This latest example of the leftist media censoring bad economic news for the Biden Administration was made possible thanks to lucrative sponsorships by Dawn (CBS), Liberty Mutual (ABC), and CarFax (NBC). CBS Evening News has also asked you to text anchor Norah O’Donnell at (202) 217-1107.

BRET BAIER: Hey Rich another problem the administrations facing. A new report warning of more inflation ahead?

RICH EDSON: That’s right Bret. This is food, specifically, it comes from a IRI survey. It's a research firm. They’re looking at five percent food and grocery inflation for the first half of next year. They say though that varies by the type of grocery and the region where the groceries are sold. This is on top of the Wall Street Journal report that says a number of different companies are already planning on food price increases next year. Whether it's mustard, cookies, Jell-O, those are all in the works. And also on top of a Labor Department report from November saying that the United States had inflation 6.8 percent compared to November a year prior, that's the highest level this country has seen since '82. Bret?

BAIER: Rich Edson, live in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with the President. Rich, thanks.
