Two major stories dropped tonight and as is often the case with the Elitist Media, they failed to make the broadcast network evening news. In both cases, only CBS carried these items.

MATT GUTMAN: Now breaking news tonight about Former President Joe Biden. Today roughly 70 hours of recordings of an interview he did with a ghostwriter in 2017 before he was President were released over Biden's objections. Senior White House Correspondent Weijia Jiang joins me. Weijia, what do these tapes tell us?
WEIJIA JIANG: Well Matt, the newly released audio shows that in 2017 when Former President Biden was writing a memoir he told his ghostwriter on several occasions that he had classified documents in his possession. Biden can be heard saying "I just found all the classified stuff downstairs," in reference to volumes of notes Biden kept in his home. He also said “some of this may be classified so be careful.” Biden, who fought for years to keep these recordings private, would later publicly criticize President Trump for his handling of classified documents. We asked a spokesman for Biden for a comment about the new tapes, but he said they don’t have one. Matt.

It bears repeating that it was a brief. Weijia Jiang emphasized the classified documents portion of the story on the Biden Tapes, but not the cognitive decline aspects, which also resonated during the ghostwriter interview:

As Fox News notes:
The interview recordings show instances where Biden takes long pauses, forgets names, and can't recall specific days.
Biden warned Zwonitzer while discussing a 2014 Situation Room meeting, "Some of this may be classified, so be careful," and added, "I'm not sure. It isn't marked classified, but...."
In one instance, on April 24, 2017, Biden struggled to recall two economic advisers.
"I’ll think of his name," said Biden, and then, "I should write the names down because I keep forgetting them." A long pause follows before Zwonitzer says Alan Krueger’s name.
On the same day, Biden fails to recall where he was on a certain date, later remembering he was at a memorial for a fallen service member – and forgot his name.
Biden’s cognitive decline was why Special Counsel Robert Hur ultimately made the decision not to prosecute, believing juries would not find that a “sympathetic, well-meaning man with a poor memory” willfully mishandled classified material…by stacking it next to his Corvette and other places in his garage. Recall that the Elitist Media raged at this characterization, but it has aged well.
Moving on to the Fauci Tapes, it is also CBS who broke the seal. Here is that brief in its entirety as aired on the CBS Evening News on Monday, July 26th, 2026:

MATT GUTMAN: Newly released diary entries by Dr. Anthony Fauci are shedding light on his soaring notoriety during the Covid epidemic. The documents released by Republican Senator Rand Paul include Fauci’s reflections about being invited to A-list parties, calls with Barbra Streisand, but also some uncertainty about the origin of Covid, whether it started in a wet market in China or leaked from a Wuhan lab.
As one astute observer on X put it: “That’s like me telling my kid this bedtime story: ‘Once Upon a Time there lived a princess in a far away land. The End.’”
Our own Curtis Houck chronicled the Elitist Media’s early omission of the Dear Fauci Diary, and it’s easy to see why. The brief doesn’t go into Fauci’s narcissistic pursuit of celebrity status, or his efforts to shape media coverage of both the pandemic and his role in the administration’s response to it. And there really wasn’t “uncertainty” on Fauci’s end as to the origin of the virus. He knew.
This is a tiny brief but, again, infinity more than was offered on ABC, NBC or PBS. PBS chose instead to cover the resignation of Cracker Barrel’s CEO after their disastrous rebrand. ABC went with Punch the Monkey’s birthday, and NBC went with a nonlethal aviation mishap. As is often the case, what the news doesn’t report is often far more important than what makes it on air.
