It’s summer, which means it is time for actor Anthony Anderson to guest host ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and call Republicans racists. On Monday, Anderson welcomed Rep. Jasmine Crockett to the show to help him continue his ignoble tradition.
Anderson introduced Crockett by playing a montage of what he considered to be her greatest hits, “Our next guest continues to distinguish herself as one of the most outspoken and plainspoken members of the U.S. Congress.”

In the montage, Crockett was shown being one of those performative representatives who is a little too much in love with C-SPAN’s committee room cameras. In one clip, she declared, “Welcome to the Republicans’ white pride rally disguised as a congressional hearing.”
During the actual interview, Anderson wondered, “Now, when you’re going after your Republican colleagues— Because you go at them hard. How is it in the break room or in the lunchroom when you set your lunches? Are y'all still friends? Or do be like, ‘Bitch, pass me the potatoes?’”

Despite Anderson’s earlier montage that basically admitted Crockett is only famous because she is performative, Crockett claimed Republicans are the performative ones, “So they'll invite me for stuff. They also do things like, ‘Do you want to, like, to get into a fight so we can go on Fox News?’ And I'm like, ‘I'm going to pass.’… I mean, like, literally Republicans are very performative. Specifically, in this moment. A lot of them don't like Donald Trump, but they too afraid to say so.”
Later, Anderson returned to the race card, “Now, they’re 27 black women in the House, and Republicans always mix them up and get you confused. Who do they confuse you with?”
Crockett acknowledged that it is not just Republicans but that Democrats also confuse her with “Emilia Sykes out of Ohio. They can't tell us apart.”

Anderson then put up Sykes’s photo and conceded, “Okay, okay. I can see the resemblance. Okay, I can see that.”
Ultimately, Crockett was on to rally the Democratic troops ahead of the midterms. Anderson put the ball on the tee when he wondered, “Now that we're done with the games, you know, let's talk about these midterm races. You know, why are they so important?”
Crockett gave a generic Democratic stump speech in response that lamented “Like, it's wild because it's like ‘Let me be the arsonist, but I'm also going to be the firefighter.’ So I want people to really pay attention to what's happening…The reason they decided to come to states like Texas and go after our seats and do everything that they could to get it up to the Supreme Court to get rid of VRA districts is because the last time Trump was in, the midterms weren't kind to him.”

Even Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s guest hosts cannot help themselves. They have to use a show that is advertised as being funny and use it to instead smear half the country and rally people to vote for the blue team.

CROCKETT: Yeah, I mean, listen. So many people right now are hurting in the country. And, you know, my answer to everyone that's hurting is look at who is in control. On the federal level, it's Republicans across the board. Democrats control absolutely nothing. In a state like Texas, it's Republicans across the board. So, it's so funny because they campaign on everything they going to fix and I’m like “But you the ones been faking it.” Like, it's wild because it's like "Let me be the arsonist, but I'm also going to be the firefighter." So I want people to really pay attention to what's happening.
But I do think we've got great opportunities. I think that they've already given up on North Carolina a little bit. One of the reasons that Tillis decided not to run for reelection is because he knew it was going to be pretty difficult, especially facing the headwinds of Trump. The reason they decided to come to states like Texas and go after our seats and do everything that they could to get it up to the Supreme Court to get rid of VRA districts is because the last time Trump was in, the midterms weren't kind to him.
