Kimmel Teams Up With Schiff To Fundraise For Senator Jacky Rosen

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel may have taken the summer off in terms of hosting his late night comedy show, but he did not relent in pushing Democratic electoral goals. On Tuesday, Kimmel made an appearance in California Senate candidate and Rep. Adam Schiff’s email to urge people to donate to Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen’s re-election effort.

Kimmel begins the email by fearmongering, “GREAT NEWS, [Recipient]! Another urgent fundraising message with your name in it! This one is from Jimmy Kimmel, the guy from TV. I hate getting these messages too, but right now, my friend Jacky Rosen is fighting to defend Nevada and the Senate from crazy GOP extremists who are coming after your health care again.”

Kimmel’s hobby horse is claiming Republicans don’t care about people’s, including his son’s, medical conditions, “We all know someone whose pre-existing condition meant they were unable to get health insurance. More than 14 years after the popular and wildly-successful Affordable Care Act ensured protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions, Republicans like Jacky’s right-wing opponent are still trying to get rid of the ACA, putting the health and well-being of tens of millions of our friends, family, neighbors and children at risk.” [Emphasis in original]

Next, Kimmel hypes Rosen:

I grew up in Nevada and I’ve known Jacky for years. Long before she was a senator, Jacky worked with my father as a computer programmer in a male-dominated field. Jacky is a smart, strong and reasonable person who cares deeply about the hardworking people of Nevada and across our country.

Jacky is fighting to lower prescription drug costs, restore reproductive freedom, strengthen workers’ rights and pass common sense gun safety reforms.

Her MAGA opponent wants to be another destructive force in the Senate as Republicans aim to crush affordable health care, ban abortion and do nothing about the senseless gun violence Nevadans know all too well.

Indeed, in 2023, Kimmel donated $6,600 to Rosen and $5,400 in 2018, when he actively campaigned for her. Additionally, Kimmel donated $10,000 to the Nevada Democratic Party in 2022 and $3,600 in 2018.

Kimmel, who almost certainly makes more money than you do and hosts $30 million fundraisers for President Joe Biden with the likes of George Clooney, concludes by claiming, “Jacky is relying on grassroots supporters to fund her campaign, and the only way to fight back against the Republicans trying to buy Nevada’s Senate seat is with your support.”

A 2023 Media Research Center study found that 88 percent of Kimmel’s 2,215 political jokes targeted conservatives and Republicans, the highest of any full time, daily late night comedy host.
