SUCK IT UP: Univision Tells Viewers To Cope With Bidenflation

November 10th, 2021 3:37 PM

If you happen to be financially strangled by spiking inflation, take heed to the advice proffered by Univision’s midday Noticiero Digital during a report on the dismal Consumer Price Index numbers for October 2021: deal with inflation and refrain from splurging on things you don’t need, like coffee or driving your car to work.

The myopic –and appalling - directives were part of a report on the data revealed by the Department of Labor showing that “Consumer prices have gone up 6.2% over the past twelve months, the highest rate (of increase) of the past 30 years.” But you better get used to it, because “some experts say that there is not much that the administration can do, and predict that crude prices will remain high and will fall next year”.

Take a look at the disconnect of three Univision journalists with the reality of families that, far from thinking about “spending a bit more with the Holidays and all the festivities”, are struggling to put food on their tables, with many losing their jobs and homes, and others forced to make drastic changes in their budgets to survive (and not for Starbucks coffees):

ANDREA LEON: Consumer prices have gone up 6.2% over the past twelve months, the highest rate (of increase) of the past 30 years. Some experts say that there is not much that the administration can do, and predict that crude prices will remain high and will fall next year. Another example: the price of meat is up 30% since the outset of the pandemic. But what can we do? Avoid unnecessary spending, for example: instead of buying a cup of coffee every day, do it once a week and brew your own throughout the rest of the week. Take public transportation to go to work, or take turns carpooling with a friend. These are small changes, Ayleen and Borja, but they make a difference long-term.

AYLEN DEL TORO: Of course, they help us save and protect our pockets now that you spend a bit more with the holidays and all the festivities, right?

BORJA VOCES: And by the way, in a statement this morning President Biden said that reversing inflation is the highest priority of his administration at this time, so we hope this will be resolved because we in fact have to tighten our belts.

Even Borja Voces’ final comment reveals a crass lack of empathy for those Univision claims to protect and defend: “And by the way, in a statement this morning President Biden said that reversing inflation is the highest priority of his administration at this time, so we hope this will be resolved because we in fact have to tighten our belts."

What in fact needs to be tightened are the loose tongues that speak not for the nation's Latinos, but the elite that make up our corporate media.
