Jorge Ramos Serves Up Green New Deal Propaganda on Facebook Watch

August 21st, 2019 1:02 PM

If a recent episode of Real America is any indication, then the purpose of the partnership between Facebook and Univision appears to be little more than to allow host Jorge Ramos to indulge the fringiest left-wing policies under the guise of journalism.

Watch below as the radical Green New Deal gets the whitewash treatment (click “expand”):

CONGRESSWOMAN ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ (D-NY): I just want to let you know how proud I am of each and every single one of you for putting yourselves and your bodies...and everything on the line to make sure that we save our planet, our generation, and our future.

JULIAN BRAVE NOISECAT: This was their moment. Staging a sit-in outside out of Speaker Pelosi’s office and gaining support for New York representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez propelled the Sunrise Movement into the national spotlight.

ACTIVISTS: (singing) Which side are you on, now? Which side are you on?...

NOISECAT: So who is Sunrise? Call them an environmental group and you’d be dead wrong. Sunrise considers themselves members of a social movement- the last generation that can do something to stop the worst effects of climate change. They come from every state, and have been organizing events in cities across the U.S.. Their goal? To fight climate change and create millions of jobs through the Green New Deal.

DEJAH POWELL: We’re all headed to Cass Park…

ACTIVIST: Wooo! Hoo!

POWELL: I joined Sunrise because they were the only group of people who were, like, radically demanding that our elected officials, like, be accountable to the climate crisis…

We’re marching with different organizations and organizers in Detroit, to the debate, to let them know that, like, we are here advocating and pushing for a Green New Deal.

NOISECAT: So what is the Green New Deal? It’s a congressional resolution presented by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts. It aims to cut carbon pollution, create good jobs, build green infrastructure, and ensure social justice. The Sunrise Movement has made the Green New Deal a central issue of the 2020 campaign. Critics say we can’t afford it. Proponents say we have no choice.

POWELL: It includes things like upgrading our degrading infrastructure and retrofitting buildings so that they’re sort of more energy efficient. And then transforming our agricultural system, which is a huge sort of emitter and contributor of fossil fuels, and so we’re sort of looking at different sectors of our society and thinking, like, “how do we get to net zero emissions?”

NOISECAT: So is it about abolishing cows, as some Republicans claim?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I love campaigning against the Green New Deal. No more airplanes, no more cows…

POWELL: Heh, no, or...like, cutting airplanes forever. I think it’s about looking...um, sort of taking that energy from the New Deal and looking of, like, how do we guarantee jobs -and green jobs- so that people are working, and sort of supporting this transition to, um, a net zero emissions economy. Um, so it’s like, a mixture of all these different things.

NOISECAT: SO it’s an approach that aims to take on emissions at the same time that we take on issues of justice…

POWELL: Yeah…

NOISECAT: jobs, infrastructure…

POWELL: Yeah, and it’s doing the thing that the New Deal didn’t of also, like, centering marginalized voices and making sure that, like, everyone is included in this policy and not just the people who should be benefitted, yeah.

NoiseCat, in addition to being a correspondent for Real America, is the Director of Green New Deal Strategy for Data for Progress, an organization that bills itself as “the think tank for the future of progressivism”, and that champions such policy items as “Medicare for All”, “A Green Job Guarantee”, and “Abolishing ICE.” Spoiler alert: this episode of Real America isn’t going to feature any dissent on the Green New Deal, or any honest discussion regarding the bill’s true intent, which is to radically transform the American economy away from the free markets under the guise of climate change activism.

This episode of Real America follows a clear pattern of presenting the furthest-left policy positions while erasing the other side of the argument- whether on climate, guns, abortion, socialism, or any other issue. There is no interest in having an honest discussion, but on preaching affirmations to Ramos’ chosen side of any given policy issue.

Ramos had previously written a treacly column on the Green New Deal, and now backs it up with this propagandistic infomercial- another example of his servility towards U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Real America has proven to be an outgrowth of the old America with Jorge Ramos, albeit now with a far larger platform than Fusion’s tens of viewers. While it is arguable whether what is shown here is representative of the “Real America”, there can be no doubt that this is the real Jorge Ramos.
