The Communist China-appeasing oligarchs at TikTok have kicked the platform’s ridiculous censorship apparatus into high gear to nix free speech from its platform.
MRC Free Speech America has been tracking TikTok’s anti-American censorship using our unique CensorTrack database. Our newly-released study revealed that TikTok permanently banned at least 11 pro-free speech organizations that dared to contradict leftist talking points since January 2019.
In this week's episode of CensorTrack with Paiten, we looked at a few of the organizations TikTok tried to shut up. We also investigated some of the app’s most common censorship tactics.
One of TikTok’s favorite tactics is permanently banning users and then justifying the action with a vague excuse that doesn’t give much explanation at all. Users who were “permanently banned” on TikTok received the same notice: “Your account was permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines.”
That’s it. That’s all they get — silenced without even an attempt at a serious explanation.
Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton, PragerU’s Amala Ekpunobi, and podcaster Tim Pool are just a few of the major social media personalities that have been slapped with permanent ban notices. In each case, TikTok did not reveal any more information on why the account was banned.
CCP-tied TikTok also has the habit of permanently banning accounts and then randomly reinstating them a short time later. Apparently, TikTok doesn’t really have a firm grasp on what the word “permanent” means.
For example, the anti-American company “permanently banned” Young America’s Foundation at least three times. Again, TikTok provided no reason for the permanent, er, temporary bans beyond the canned explanation of “multiple Community Guidelines violations.” TikTok targeted the organization on at least 18 other occasions, according to the MRC CensorTrack database.
Although the vague explanation for the permanent ban appears to be one of TikTok’s favorite censorship excuses, the CCP-tied platform also arbitrarily removes specific videos from accounts with viewpoints that oppose the left’s narrative.
In the distorted realm of TikTok, truth is dangerous, but this makes sense when its leadership is beholden to the communist rulers in Beijing.
