In April, Apple News overwhelmingly promoted left-leaning outlets (70%) and suppressed right-leaning perspectives (2%), especially on the Iran conflict and Trump administration immigration issues, according to an MRC study. The platform highlighted stories with anti-Trump framing, sidelining conservative coverage and favoring elite, leftist media.

The Big Four News Apps—Apple News, Google News, MSN, and Yahoo News—overwhelmingly promote left-leaning sources, creating a digital bias similar to political gerrymandering. Research from MRC shows how these tech giants routinely suppress right-leaning outlets, skewing public perception and limiting balanced coverage for millions of Americans.

After the SPLC was indicted for wire fraud and money laundering, major news apps Google News, MSN, and Yahoo News ignored the scandal in their top stories, while Apple News only featured two left-leaning articles. Right-leaning coverage was available but omitted, highlighting media bias in the Big Four News Apps’ reporting.

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo interviewed Media Research Center (MRC) President David Bozell about an explosive new MRC special report exposing the extreme left-wing bias of the Big Four News Apps, Apple, Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

MRC’s analysis found that Apple News, Google News, Microsoft's MSN, and Yahoo News overwhelmingly promoted left-leaning sources—up to 70% of articles—while right-leaning outlets get as little as 5%. This bias, paired with each app’s vast reach, raises major concerns about media diversity and fair representation in digital news.

A Media Research Center analysis found Yahoo News heavily favored left-leaning stories in March, with 400 of its top stories from the left and just 70 from the right, almost entirely Fox News. Yahoo virtually ignored center-rated outlets and was the most partisan of the Big Four news apps, highlighting a lack of balanced coverage for its large U.S. audience.

EXCLUSIVE: Last month, the Media Research Center exposed Microsoft’s MSN for manufacturing the illusion of balance on its feed while concealing its censorship by promoting non-political, right-leaning stories in top placements.

Google News all but excluded right-leaning news outlets from coverage of the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, with 183 left-leaning stories to just six right-leaning ones. 

A recent analysis found Apple News promoted significantly more left-leaning stories in March than its Big Four competitors, featuring 434 such articles out of 592. Right-leaning stories were nearly absent, despite FTC scrutiny. Critics argue Apple News’s bias limits balanced news for its wide user base.

Google News sidelined coverage of Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick’s major fraud scandal, instead promoting The New York Times and its games to boost their traffic and ad revenue. Critics claim this reflects Google’s bias, as even rivals reported on the issue while Google left it out of its top headlines for days.
