Liberal Pundits, Groups Call for Big Tech to Crush Trump’s Speech

Liberals and their media allies can’t wait for Big Tech to ban President Donald Trump forever.

CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy demanded that Big Tech work overtime to crack down on Trump’s speech in a CNN media newsletter,'s Brian Flood reported on Monday. “Nearly every tweet from the president at this point is labeled for misinfo. Which had me thinking,” Darcy explained. “Why doesn't Twitter just take the step of labeling his entire account as a known source of election disinfo? And why stop there? Why not label accounts that repeatedly spread claims the platform has to fact-check?”

He’s not alone. Earlier in November, Former Reddit CEO Ellen K. Pao and Project Include Founding Partner Laura I. Gómez wrote an open letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey demanding Trump’s Twitter account be shut down. The letter excoriated Dorsey: ““Donald Trump is attempting a coup. And he’s running it through Twitter.”

The letter acknowledged that Twitter has tried to undermine the president’, but didn’t go far enough:

Yes, we know you’ve been flagging him, but flagging doesn’t help — it attracts more attention and more engagement. One flagged tweet has almost half a million likes and retweets. How many millions of people saw the tweet and believed it?

The letter also addressed how liberal watchdog groups like Common Cause and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law have sent a similar scorched-earth call to action to Dorsey:

“We are writing to request that, in response to President Donald Trump’s repeated violations of Twitter’s Civic Integrity Policy, that you suspend his account – an action that Twitter has taken in the past against other verified users who have also repeatedly violated your policies.”

House Democrats have demanded that Trump be suspended as well.

Representative David Cicilline (D-RI) declared that Trump’s Twitter account is “posting lies and misinformation at a breathtaking clip” and called Trump’s online presence a “threat to our democracy,” which “should be suspended until all the votes are counted.”

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) had similar demands:

“Suspend his account, @Twitter. This is pure disinformation. Valid votes are being counted.

“This is America, not Russia.”

Even before the election, Big Tech elites were calling for the president to be “muzzled.”

Peter D. Greenberger, who formerly held “executive revenue and partnership positions at both Google and Twitter,” wrote a column proclaiming that “Social media platforms should silence the president until the winner of the election is clear.” The October 19 column for The Washington Post headlined “I ran political advertising for Twitter. It’s time for platforms to mute Trump” made claims of Big Tech’s political neutrality laughable. Greenberger made the disturbing suggestion that: “even at the risk of infringing on the principle of free speech … Twitter and Facebook must muzzle Trump as the election nears.”

Conservatives are under attack. Contact Twitter by its official (415) 222-9670,  Facebook, Twitter or mail to 1355 Market Street Suite 900 and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives.
