"I was a troll, full stop. And I am so sorry.”
These are the words of a repentant Chrissy Teigen, one of Twitter’s most obnoxious offenders. After a month of laying low on social media, the washed up model is back with her bi-montly apology on Twitter. This specific apology letter is a long winded treatise on her past mistakes, self reflection, and character development since her bullying-antics on Twitter.
“The truth is, I’m no longer the person who wrote those horrible things. I grew up, got therapy, got married, had kids, got more therapy, experienced loss and pain, got more therapy and experienced more life. AND GOT MORE THERAPY.” Good. You need it.
Her act of contrition has been prompted most likely by the fact that her lucrative partnerships with Target and Netflix having been cut off. Certainly, had her death wishes for the likes of then-16-year-old Courtney Stodden, Lindsey Lohan and others not resurfaced or had she never been caught, no apology would be given.
Back in 2011, Teigen encouraged teenage Courtney Stodden to commit suicide. Teigen tweeted at the young girl: “My Friday fantasy: you. Dirt nap. Mmmmmm baby,” with a vicious “go. to sleep. forever.” Stodden revealed that Teigen made it her personal mission to harangue her through private dms, telling her to kill herself. Stodden was in the middle of a social media onslaught because of her scandalous marriage to the 50-year-old actor Doug Hutchison. Teigen submitted an initial apology back in May after widespread internet backlash. Her fall from grace was truly something to behold as business partners such Bloomingdales and Macy’s dropped her one after the other. She was effectively canceled, karma having dealt her a heaping dose of her own medicine.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens broadcasted Teigen’s shameful Twitter antics and called on her business partners to cut ties with her. On May 14, Owens tweeted ‘Chrissy Teigen’s pattern is she finds young, vulnerable women who are struggling in the public eye and she sets out to destroy them for no reason other than they appear weak,” adding the hashtag “#SurvivingChrissyTeigen.” Owens remarked on the hypocritical nature of the situation in yet another tweet: “Chrissy Teigen has offered a public apology to Courtney Stodden for encouraging her to commit suicide as a teenager, but ONLY because I blew the story up. The media has given Chrissy a pass for YEARS as she has monstrously attacked people, repeatedly for simply existing.”
Yesterday, Owens called Teigen “a malignant sociopathic narcissist,” and commented that, “The problem with #chrissyteigen’s diatribe is that she’s apologizing for who she was “a long time ago”. Let’s be clear—Chrissy spent the last 6 years online harassing conservative women who DID NOTHING to her. This wasn’t some off-colored period of her life. It’s who she is.”
Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham was another object of public humiliation for Teigen who referred to her as a “wh***.” Teigen mocked Lindsey Lohan’s self-destructive past in a since-deleted tweet saying, “Lindsey adds a few more slits to her wrists when she see emma stone.” Demi Lovato was another one of her cyber victims- “Demi Lovato is out of rehab! I hope she made the bed for Charlie [Sheen],”These young women who were at the time only teenagers are just some of Teigen’s long rap sheet of mean girl posting
When asked if she would denounce her vitriolic Twitter assault of President Trump over the last four years she responded in kind: “Absolutely crying at the amount of you asking if I‘m reaching out to the desk of the former president of the United States to apologize for bullying him, the former president of the United States. Please never change. I will, but you. You stay.” Clearly, Teigen has no authentic remorse for her incessant trash talking. The internet would be a better place if Teigen had just stayed off of Twitter like she originally decided.
