BUYING AN ELECTION? NYT Hypes Soros-Tied Eco-Extremist Group Spending $80M to Help Biden in 2024

The New York Times hyped up an eco-extremist group with ties to leftist billionaire George Soros that is scheming to unleash tens of millions of dollars to ensure President Joe Biden’s reelection in 2024.

The Times praised on Oct. 16 how the Climate Power group was spending $80 million on “ads to aid Biden.” As the outlet put it, “Climate Power says the lack of awareness and understanding of the president’s record on environmental issues is hurting him in the polls.” The group was founded by a coalition of three leftist entities, two of which are significantly  funded by Soros: The Center for American Progress (CAP) Action Fund and the climate activist group Sierra Club. The CAP Action Fund and the Sierra Club received $2,890,000 and $700,000 respectively from Soros just between 2016 and 2021 alone. In addition, failed 2020 presidential candidate and fellow leftist billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer is also on Climate Power's advisory boardThe Times didn’t bother mentioning any of this context.

The leftist rag did manage to bury in the 11th paragraph how the “planned $80 million will come from so-called dark money, the donors of which are not required to be disclosed under federal law.” The “dark money” part would only be revealed after The Times spent significant column space mourning how “few voters are aware of the president’s record on climate issues, and there is a broad dissatisfaction with his stewardship of the issue.” Climate Power’s multimillion-dollar gambit, fawned The Times, is the latest effort to save Biden’s electoral prospects amid dismal polls:

This new effort also adds to the constellation of outside groups working to solve one of the Democratic Party’s most vexing problems: how to make a president widely seen by his own party as too old to seek re-election just popular enough to win a likely rematch with former President Donald J. Trump.

Climate Power’s so-called “solution,” according to The Times, is to “feed voters a steady stream of television and digital advertising highlighting Mr. Biden’s legislative accomplishments to protect the'' environment. The leftist propaganda advertising will also reportedly attack “Mr. Trump, who mocked climate science, rolled back regulations aimed at cutting emissions and has promised to be a booster for the oil, gas and coal industries.”

The group’s antics also reportedly garnered “the praise of Mr. Biden’s top aides at the White House,” The Times celebrated. Biden’s White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jen O’Malley Dillon told The Times that “‘Climate Power is a critical partner to continue demonstrating to the American people that the president is building a clean energy economy that benefits all Americans.’” But as Heritage Foundation economist EJ Antoni pointed out in a Sept. 23 op-ed, Biden’s eco-extremist policies throttling “the energy sector are needlessly costing American families an extra $2,400 on their annual energy bills.”

Climate Power’s “About” section reads like the climate activist version of Karl Marx’ Communist Manifesto. “The climate crisis is here. The science is clear. Voters support bold action. It’s time to get to work. Climate change touches every aspect of our lives—from the air our kids breathe, to the quality of the water we drink, to the damage done to our homes by extreme weather.” It continued: “[W]e’re fighting back against anti-science lobbyists and their corrupt fossil-fuel backers who are doing everything they can to stop climate progress dead in its tracks.” Those darn bourgeoisies!
