What can’t Barack Obama do? That’s something liberal journalists wondered for eight years. On June 16, 2009, John Harwood and David Shuster were amazed that the then-President killed a fly. Harwood narrated: “He swatted his hand and he said, “‘I got the sucker.’” 

In 2011, veteran ABC journalist Barbara Walters cheered on Anthony Weiner, praising the “good Congressman” who had been accused of texting lewd images to young women. Appearing on The View, Walters hailed Weiner, saying: “[He] should hang in there.” 

Some of the examples we use at This Week in Media Bias History are so oblivious and bizarre that they stand on their own for sheer insanity. Such is the case for Newsweek editor Evan Thomas on June 5, 2009. While talking about Barack Obama, he rhapsodized: “Obama’s standing above the country... above the world. He’s sort of God.” There you go. “Sort of God.” You knew some journalist would say it…

Sometimes liberal journalists just come right out and admit it. On May 27, 1993, Dan Rather told Bill Clinton that he and then-CBS Evening News partner Connie Chung hoped to be as “great” as Clinton and the First Lady. Rather gushed, “Tell Mrs. Clinton we respect her and we’re pulling for here.” Keep in mind, this was FOUR MONTHS into Clinton's presidency. 

Tavis Smiley just wanted to remind viewers of all those Christian mass murderers. In 2010, seven years before he would be suspended for sexual misconduct allegations, the PBS host insisted that Christians go on murder sprees “every single day.” He bizarrely claimed the Columbine killers as an example of devout murderers. 

Talk about a character witness. There was a time before Dan Rather was known as the “disgraced” ex-CBS Evening News journalist. But even before he used phony documents in an attempt to torpedo George W. Bush, Rather had a questionable link to the truth. On May 15, 2001, he proclaimed Bill Clinton an “honest” man, saying, “I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.” 

As Americans across the country get ready to celebrate Mother’s Day, This Week in Media Bias History fans will remember that liberal journalists celebrate Hillary Clinton every day. On May 10, 1993, Time correspondent Margaret Carlson hailed the then-First Lady as “an icon of American womanhood.” On another topic, journalist Eleanor Clift on May 11, 2014 absurdly claimed that U.S. Ambassador…

What is it about mass death that causes liberal journalists to smear conservatives? On April 25, 1995, then-Today co-host Bryant Gumbel blamed the Oklahoma City Bombing on talk radio hosts. On April 21, 2013, The New York Times decided that the solution to the Boston Marathon bombing was... a carbon tax? 

The liberal hate flows strong in today’s edition of This Week in Media Bias History. On April 19, then-MSNBC host Keith Olbermann smeared Rush Limbaugh as having “blood” on his hands for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. On April 14, 2009, CNN’s Anderson Cooper used a vulgar slang term for oral sex to describe the Tea party movement. 

According to the late 60 Minutes journalist Andy Rooney, U.S. soldiers in Iraq weren’t all “heroes,” many were simply “victims” of George W. Bush. That nasty example from This Week in Media Bias History is from April 12, 2004. Another example includes a Time reporter saying that Ted Kaczynski may have been a killer, but at least he wasn’t a hypocrite. 

The New York Times doesn’t change. The paper is atrociously biased today and it was 85 years ago when columnist Walter Duranty proved himself to be a useful idiot for Soviet propaganda. Talking about a famine that killed millions of Ukrainians, he insisted: “There is no actual starvation... There is no famine.”

If you drink coffee while reading This Week in Media Bias History, you might want to put the mug down. According to the former executive editor of the New York Times, Hillary Clinton is “fundamentally honest.” That was the claim from Jill Abramson on March 28, 2016. Another example of liberal media lunacy: Then-View co-host Rosie O’Donnell revealing herself as a 9/11 truther on March 29, 2007.
