When promotion increased, so did traffic; when it dropped, audience numbers also fell, showing the outsized influence these digital gatekeepers have on major media outlets’ visibility.

Google News all but excluded right-leaning news outlets from coverage of the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, with 183 left-leaning stories to just six right-leaning ones.
