Fact-checking fact-checkers

Anyone who's paying attention to CNN knows that their Toronto-based "fact checker" Daniel Dale is almost entirely focused on the dishonesty of Donald Trump (unless it's Vice President Vance repeating Trump).

When a radical who is running for office suddenly experiences a campaign conversion in order to portray himself as more of a moderate, how can voters really trust him? If PolitiFact’s Caleb McCullough is to be believed, it is because he says so. The “he” in question is Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, whose Republican opponent Mike Rogers recently accused him of supporting efforts to defund…

PolitiFact is demonstrating its partisanship in the Texas campaign for U.S. Senate. They threw a “False” flag at Texas PAC for the true statement that Talarico “supported using taxpayer dollars for sex change surgeries on young children.” Paxton & Co. are routinely "False," while Talarico has only one "Mostly True" rating. When's he's false, the "Truth-O-Meter" isn't used.

While the Democrat-pleasing “fact checkers” at PolitiFact aren’t throwing any “False” flags at wild-eyed Trump haters comparing the president to mass-murdering dictators ("Hitler to Stalin to Idi Amin") over pulling White House access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, they did pull out the “Mostly False” card for a mostly true claim about Team Biden dramatically shrinking the press-pass list in…

Those who work at the fact-checking websites like to portray themselves as the heroic defenders of civilization against the barbarians at the gate who come armed with misinformation and seek to destroy it. Therefore, it was rather interesting on Friday when Snopes’s Nuir Ibrahim sought to reassure all of the Israel haters on the internet that Dolly Parton did not, in fact, donate books to…

PolitiFact’s home page begs for donations with the sales pitch: “Stand up for the facts! Our only agenda is to publish the truth so you can be an informed participant in democracy.” But PolitiFact’s liberal agenda is easily identified by studying its partisan pattern of “fact checking.” Their disparity in "False" warnings between Republicans and Democrats is 63 to 14.

On Friday, PolitiFact posted a story headlined “Why Republicans are focusing on transgender issues in competitive 2026 campaigns.” The headline could have been “Republicans are using misleading anti-transgender rhetoric.” That was their argument.

Politifact (D-Florida) is already demonstrating the notion that "fact checking" is often Republican spin-spoiling. Democrats chose DSA member Angie Nixon to run for Senate, and PolitiFact asked: "How aligned is Angie Nixon with democratic socialists? Moody's Florida Senate race attack misleads." Wrong.

Florida Republican-turned MSNBC talking head-turned Democratic gubernatorial nominee David Jolly has portrayed himself as the kind of aspiring governor who would not insert himself into decisions about whether or not a minor should receive transgender “medical care.” This has led GOP nominee Byron Donalds and his PAC to say Jolly supports transgender surgeries for minors, but the damage…

CNN chief fact-checker Daniel Dale is not pleased with Senator and National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Tim Scott. On Wednesday, Dale penned an article attacking Scott for a “misleading” ad that “snipped key context” from a Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed speech, but Dale’s criticism seems to be that Republicans didn’t put an entire paragraph from that speech in their 30-second…

The “fact checkers” are marching in line with the elitist media in slamming Republican Mike Rogers for pointing out Abdul el-Sayed’s sketchy choice of allies like Hasan Piker.

Associated Press fact-checker Melissa Goldin came running to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s defense on Tuesday after conservative media personalities and Republican politicians accused him of hypocrisy for requiring a “library-card-esque” ID to shop at his government-run grocery stores, but opposing it when it comes to voting. However, Goldin’s insistence that such claims are "…

PolitiFact threw the "False" flag at a minor GOP candidate for wrongly claiming the U.S. and Israeli militaries were merging. But they could have done the same for AOC, Ro Khanna, and Thomas Massie. Why single out the un-elected conspiracy theorist?

PolitiFact did something truly shocking on July 2. They tagged a Democrat with their harshest judgment, “Pants On Fire.” It’s been almost two years since the last time. On July 31, 2024, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker was flagged for suggesting J.D. Vance had sex with a couch. In between those, I counted 32 "Pants On Fire" tags for Donald Trump.
