LeBron James spoke to reporters after the tragic shooting deaths and injuries of multiple children in his native Cleveland, in addition to the community college campus shooting in Oregon.
"Four kids under the age of five or six years old have been shot and killed or very badly injured, there's no room for that. There's no room for guns, first of all, but then for violence toward kids or anybody. I see the news go across my phone and I'm sitting there in front of my three kids, so it automatically just hit me.”
"It's not just in Cleveland, it's the whole nation that goes through this as well,” he added. "We all hurt from it.”
Though James stopped short of calling for any specific gun reforms, he admitted that changing the nation’s firearms laws could be difficult.
"I know what I see. I know how I feel. Obviously, you're not going to be able to take every gun out. I don't know how you can do that. There's so many around now, today,” James said.
“But if there's some stipulations behind it or some penalties, some big-time penalties or rules or regulations about carrying firearms, legal or illegal, people will second-guess themselves.”
So, LeBron thinks there aren’t any rules or regulations about carrying firearms? In a normal world, that level of ignorance would get you laughed out of the conversation. Nowadays it’ll probably earn him a Medal of Freedom.
But I digress. What’s this business about there being no room for guns? Sure seems like LeBron found room for a military-grade M249 belt-fed machine-gun once upon a time:

“Clips, ammo, brand new Beretta, can’t wait to let it go…” Hmm. That Drake flow sounds a tad bit aggressive and murder-y if you ask me. So, if I’m understanding this right, it’s perfectly okay for “King James” to shoot guns and make a “place for guns” in his life. It’s just us lowly serfs who can’t have nice things. Hypocrite much?
LeBron is known in basketball circles as the “Chosen One.” Seems like the gun control movement might want to choose a different one.
