Just days after posting a selfie of herself and Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, Kim Kardashian – made famous for a sex tape of her and a former boyfriend– decided to try and get political by taking aim at stricter gun control laws.
After learning that David Conley shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, her husband and six children in Texas, Kardashian tweeted to her 34.4 million followers:
Have u heard of the heart breaking story about David Conley who slaughtered his ex girlfriend & her entire family! Her 6 kids, husband & her!

These gun safety laws have to change! This poor woman was tied up & saw every child of hers & husband get executed over 10 hours!

My thoughts & prayers go out to Valerie Jackson's family and friends! #GunLawsHAVEtoChange #GunSafety #BackgroundChecksNecessary

Fortunately conservative talk radio and TV host Dana Loesch – who happens to know a great deal about the Second Amendment and the gun laws – got wind of this and tweeted back:
. @KimKardashian False. Background checks apply and must be sent through an FFL. You may want to learn a bit more about this first.

On the issue of gun control, Kardashian told a British paper that guns “scare” her, she doesn’t allow guns in her home, but it’s ok if the security guarding her home is armed with them!
“I’m not the type to have them in my house - the security at the front of my house might but not in my house,” she said in July. “I truly honestly believe we don’t have strict enough gun control laws and it would change a lot.”
It should be noted that Kardashian is notorious for endorsements and false advertising - everything from Skechers shoes that promised to help people lose weight (these claims were unfounded and the shoe company had to pay $40 million in refunds to customers), the weight loss product QuickTrim (which she and her sisters were sued because they made “unsubstantiated false and misleading claims…” about the product), and just recently she got reprimanded by the FDA for promoting a drug to “raise awareness about morning sickness.” The FDA said her post about the drug was “false or misleading in that it presents efficacy claims…but fails to communicate any risk information associated with its use and it omits material facts.”
Oh, did I forget to mention that Kardashian always charges anywhere from $750,000 to $1 million per product endorsement?
From shady product endorsements to misinformed statements, I think it’s safe to say Kardashian doesn’t do anything unless she benefits from it somehow. Her comments did nothing to help raise awareness– if anything, her tweet about a subject she knows nothing about only makes her look...well, stupid. Just a few hours later she tweeted a photo of her eye makeup with the comment "Details."
With a history of endorsing false advertisements, and even authoring a book called Selfish, Kardashian's latest social media stunt was nothing more than a lame attempt at shameless self-promotion.
Kardashian should stick to what she knows best – whatever that is…..and sex tapes.
