During an appearance on FBN's Varney & Co. on Tuesday, Media Research Center Brent Bozell discussed the media's double standard in lambasting Donald Trump's comments on illegal immigration but failing to be outraged when it came to light that Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders insisted that the average American woman has sex fantasies about being raped.
"Where is the Todd Akin moment, where is the media outrage?" the MRC president demanded, adding, "Of course there's a double standard, but this is why the trust factor in the media is at an all-time low," Bozell told Fox Business Network substitute anchor Charles Payne and panelist Tom Sullivan.
Asked by Sullivan about why journalists covering Hillary Clinton on the Fourth of July meekly submitted to the indignity of being literally roped in by campaign staffers, Bozell responded:
This is something where the media have become an embarrassment. What a metaphor of the way that the Clinton camp is treating the press, where they rope them off. But this has been going on since day one, where she has refused to give them any access whatsoever. And like pliant cattle they're going along with this, and they take it, and they're taking this abuse.... They've been roped off because... she wants to control the narrative completely. And they're going along with it, which is shocking.
"So long she's been Teflon," Payne replied, "but I think the moment's going to come when the American public demand a lot more."
