Pro-amnesty activist Jorge Mario Cabrera, spokesman for an ostensibly non-partisan, non-profit organization in Los Angeles, let loose with full-throated partisan rage on MundoFox, in reaction to the latest federal court ruling blocking implementation of President Obama’s Executive Amnesty for upwards of five million unauthorized immigrants currently living in the country.
“The reason why we are in this problem is because of the anti-immigrants and the Republicans who initiated this lawsuit and put a stop to these programs. They have to be made to pay a very high price for this abuse that they have done to us,” raged Cabrera, in an interview with MundoFox.
MundoFox anchor Rolando Nichols introduced Cabrera as spokesman of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), “one of the principal pro-immigrant organizations in the United States.” The 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization was founded in the wake of President Reagan’s 1986 amnesty. Such organizations are prohibited by law from engaging in partisan political activity.
Cabrera’s organization is designed to serve non-citizens, and thus non-voters. Nonetheless, the organization was evidently openly involved in electoral activity during last year’s mid-term elections. Since the 2014 election, the organization’s activities have also raised additional red flags.
Moreover, MundoFox’s Rolando Nichols here failed to maintain an impartial role as newscast anchor, concluding the interview with Cabrera by openly editorializing about the matter, saying “another battle has been lost, but not the war.” Critical consideration of the substance of the court case, along with any word from opponents of the President’s amnesty, were nowhere to be found in the segment.
As is the custom of Cabrera and his cohorts, opponents of the President’s amnesty were also tarred with the the “anti-immigrant” label, a purposefully inflammatory, loaded term that obviously fails to acknowledge the difference between opposition to illegal immigration, which is certainly an animus among amnesty opponents, and opposition to legal immigration, which is not part of the anti-amnesty issue.

English Translation:
ROLANDO NICHOLS, HOST: And now I will connect with Jorge Mario Cabrera. He is the spokesman for CHIRLA, one of principal pro-immigrant organizations in the United States. I salute you Jorge and I imagine you are receiving today’s news with great disappointment and displeasure. Your reaction?
JORGE MARIO CABRERA: Exactly, Rolando and our great audience, this Court’s decision is very hard to take, even though we were already expecting it. We know this is isn’t the last step. What the Court has said for now is that these immigration relief programs cannot be implemented until the entire Fifth Circuit Court decides if the DACA or DAPA programs are constitutional. While that’s happening, obviously, we have to wait, but we do not have to lose hope, because we believe we will emerge victorious from this battle.
ROLANDO NICHOLS: It was a two-to-one defeat. There was one judge among that panel of three, Jorge Mario, who decided that it could be implemented and the suspension of those programs could be lifted. What can the community do while it waits?
JORGE MARIO CABRERA: Chiefly, we cannot lose hope. Second, continue gathering your documents; saving money, because you’ll need it soon when the programs are found to be constitutional. Third, avoid becoming a victim of fraud. And last, I believe it’s important to remind the community that the reason why we are in this problem is because of the anti-immigrants and the Republicans who initiated this lawsuit and put a stop to these programs. They have to be made to pay a very high price for this abuse that they have done to us.

ROLANDO NICHOLS: Perfect. Another battle has been lost, but not the war.
