In the latest example of “Please just shut up and act,” actor Christian Bale, star of Ridley Scott’s upcoming Biblical epic “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” has equated Moses with modern day terrorists.
“[He was] absolutely seen as a freedom fighter for the Hebrews, but a terrorist in terms of the Egyptian empire.”
Bale continued,
“What would happen to Moses if he arrived today?” “Drones would be sent out after him, right?”
Bale made these remarks on ABC’s Nightline, in a yet-to-be-aired episode. In previous interviews, Bale has called Moses ‘schizophrenic and barbaric’ and ‘troubled and tumultuous.”
Bale, who is best known for his lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, is not the first actor to make some perplexing analysis of his role as a Biblical character. Russell Crowe played the title character in Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” last year and had this to say about the man on Good Morning America, Dec.27:
“They consider "Noah" to be a benevolent figure. I'm like, are you kidding me? This is a dude that stood by and watched the entire population of the planet perish. So I think people are going to be quite surprised what "Noah" actually really means.”
