On Sunday, both ABC and NBC did their best to play up a new United Nations report on climate change, proclaiming its findings to be “alarming.”
On GMA, newsreader Ron Claiborne hyped how “scientists say that the Earth is locked now in a irreversible course of global warming due to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.”
The ABC reporter continued by warning of the supposed “ever-worsening extreme weather events and rising sea levels for centuries to come even if the greenhouse gas emissions are drastically cut right now.”
Over on World News Tonight, anchor Cecilia Vega expressed a similar tone during her alarmist news brief. The ABC reporter noted the “most dire warning yet about climate change. The alarming report coming from an international group of climate scientists.”
The ABC reporter continued her climate change freakout:
They say unless we make serious changes, the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere could soon lock the Earth in a “irreversible course of global warming.” The effects already playing out they say in extreme weather events. Rising sea levels, warmer oceans and melting glaciers.
Predictably, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt continued the network hype of the “dire report about inaction on climate change.” In his news brief, the NBC anchor proclaimed that “the world's top scientists say that unless nations agree to drastic reductions in emissions, we are facing a future with intense heat, waves, storms, and flooding of major cities. The report says the risks are also so profound that they could undermine global food and water supplies."
ABC and NBC’s climate change agenda is nothing new as they frequently promote the left’s global warming alarmism. On May 6 of this year, ABC bent over backwards to cheerlead the Obama administration’s climate change agenda with GMA newsreader Amy Robach touting “the White House is releasing what's being called the most comprehensive review of climate change in more than a decade, outlining new rules on emissions at power plants.”
On May 7, NBC's Today co-host Matt Lauer proclaimed “millions coping with the first record-breaking heat wave of the season, while the White House issues a dire warning about the nation's climate change.”
