HBO certainly isn’t subtle in their disdain for conservatives. Last week, HBO’s “True Blood” mocked conservatives at a fictional Ted Cruz fundraiser, as “Republic**ts” and this weekend’s cast panel at Comic-Con brought up the episode again.
The actress who uttered the derogatory term, Kristin Bauer van Straten was asked about the conservative reaction to the episode and her response was less than sympathetic.

Host: “So you apparently, I was reading, Ted Cruz is not happy with you all, apparently.” (crowd laughs)
Straten: “I know, isn’t this great?”
Host: “--And Sarah Palin too, right?
Straten: “I know, why not? She’ll weigh in on anything. I don’t know, why she wouldn’t.” (crowd laughs and cheers)
Host: “I feel like you guys don’t run in the same circles, i feel like you maybe won’t run into her.
Straten: “Yeah, you know, Being an animal rights person , when i first knew of her, she was just the wolf-killer lady from Alaska so it’s pretty sweet, many many years later that I’ve made her angry, apparently.[incomprehensible] I did have fun doing it.”
After the episode aired, Ted Cruz responded on Facebook, calling the episode “misogynist and profanity-ridden.” Taking it in stride, Cruz also mocked the irony of the show’s politics:
“Of all the places I never thought to be mentioned, HBO's True Blood vampire show would have to be near the top of the list. Sunday night, they aired a misogynist and profanity-ridden episode where Texas Republicans are murdered attending a "Ted Cruz fundraiser."Well, I'm sorry to have lost the vampire vote, but am astonished (and amused) that HBO is suggesting that hard-core leftists are blood-sucking fiends.
