Broadcast networks ABC, CBS, and NBC haven’t breathed a word on-air about the highly incriminating foreign money scandal involving Democratic mega-PAC ActBlue.
In June, ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones testified under oath to the Committee on House Administration that her company had implemented a “passport verification process” which would reliably filter out any illegal foreign donations. But just last week, on September 16, it was revealed that that process involved merely checking to ensure that a donor had submitted a passport number with a valid number of digits. Furthermore, records of the company’s internal correspondence appeared to show that ActBlue personnel were intentionally allowing foreign donations through their system.
MRC analysts searched every edition of the big three broadcast networks’ (ABC, CBS, and NBC) flagship morning and evening shows that had aired since September 16, 2026 for any mention of this scandal. Incredibly, not only has the scandal received 0 seconds of airtime, but ActBlue has not even been mentioned once.
The broadcast networks’ attitude towards this scandal obviously fits with their routine support of the Democratic Party. But it also illustrates another less-talked about trend in the left-wing news media ecosystem: investigations are only valid when Democrats lead them.
Both broadcast and liberal cable networks tend to regard House Republicans’ investigations and hearings as illegitimate, or pure political theater. During the Biden administration, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee’s findings and revelations routinely wound up getting little if any coverage.
In September of 2025, when everyone in the media was finally admitting to the country that perhaps former President Joe Biden actually was mentally declining while he was still in office, House Republicans hosted hearings to determine who in the administration had known about the extent of the problem. ABC and CBS refused even touch the story. NBC, to their credit, aired three and a half minutes on the proceedings.
The ActBlue revelations are particularly damaging because of how plainly incriminating some of the evidence appears to be. If any sort of legal action is taken against the company, these networks will have done their viewers a disservice by depriving them of any warning or context.
