When Donald Trump was indicted in March of 2023, the corporate media spent the next thirteen months up until his conviction smugly reminding everyone within earshot that “no one is above the law.” Yet these same supposed journalists are now expressing disgust and outrage at the arrest of leftwing politicians and judges who quite clearly appear to have broken the law.
Last week, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for trespassing on a private immigration detention facility during an anti-deporation protest. And on Thursday, Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan pled not guilty to helping a criminal illegal alien evade ICE agents. According to the leftwing news media, these two individuals’ arrests signaled a dangerous “escalation” of the Trump administration’s slide toward “authoritarianism.”
Naturally, the media largely have skimped on the actual evidence against these individuals. Instead, they’re leveraging the optics of federal agents arresting politicians and judges to weave a narrative that the Department of Justice is going after President Trump’s political opponents.
But not so long ago, when then-candidate Trump was under indictment in New York, these same journalists could scarcely go a day without repeating their favorite adage of, “no one is above the law.”
Apparently, that tired slogan was not meant to include any political figure whom the media supported. Watch:
