Yet another coalition of groups financed by radical leftist billionaire George Soros is insisting that Big Tech platforms restrict, suppress and manipulate information ahead of the 2024 election.
The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, an anti-free speech, Soros-funded organization, spearheaded a new letter claiming that Big Tech companies must “protect voters” from so-called “disinformation.”
Other anti-free speech groups co-signed the effort and over a third of the groups signing the letter were Soros-funded. The letter was addressed to the CEOs of Google, Meta, X, TikTok, Snap, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube and Twitch.
In it, the groups proposed multiple censorship measures to silence free speech they disagree with — all while artificially promoting content they approve.
In total, Soros fueled over $16 million into Leadership Conference and its Soros-backed co-signatories between 2016 and 2022, MRC has found. This is part of Soros’s massive outlay of $80 million to groups advocating censorship ahead of the 2024 election.
“With rampant disinformation still spreading about the Big Lie and election processes, increased harassment of election officials, and now the rapid growth of AI, it is imperative that steps are taken immediately to address the spread of falsehoods,” the letter screeched.
The groups insisted on tech platforms using de-amplification, warning labels, and sharing restrictions. They also proposed the “deployment” of an army of censors “through Inauguration Day.”
Tellingly, the letter didn’t even bother beating around the bush when it explicitly labeled its policy prescriptions as “demands” and even condescended to minorities by implying they weren’t intelligent enough to determine what’s true from what’s false:
“The undersigned organizations have worked together on an updated set of operational demands that we urge you to implement as soon as possible to address the spread of election disinformation, particularly voter-suppressive content that is focused on vulnerable communities and communities of color.”
Meet the Soros-Funded Groups
The Leadership Conference received 12 grantsfrom Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF) between 2016 and 2022, an MRC review of the OSF website revealed. In all, OSF gave the Leadership Conference a whopping $7,170,000 altogether.
The Center for American Progress received a staggering 35 grants between 2018 and 2022. The Center strongly opposes any abortion restrictions or pro-life laws. Soros is certainly getting his money’s worth.
Other Soros-funded groups that signed the letter include Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) which praised President Joe Biden’s controversial decision to grant amnesty to some 500,000 illegal aliens.
Common Cause, another OSF grant recipient, has an “equity statement” littered with accusations against the U.S. and specifically the Founding Fathers. Among the woke terms used were “white-supremacist,” “genocide,” “colonialism,” “homophobia,” “ableism,” “racism,” and “Latinx.”. It even pompously lectured that, “We are not ‘restoring’ or ‘rebuilding’ a democracy but, rather, striving to create a truly representative and inclusive government for the first time.”
Another signatory, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), is specifically a radically partisan pro-LGBTQ organization. “Together, we defeated President Trump, shifted the landscape for LGBTQ+ employees in the U.S. and around the globe, and made it safer for LGBTQ+ people to be out, proud and visible in schools, workplaces and communities,” HRC’s hysterical and inexplicable mission statement says.
Not to be outdone by other leftist groups, UnidosUS is in favor of the catastrophic illegal migration crisis and so has endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for president and other leftist candidates too.
