All the panic and the tumult and the flop sweat is becoming public. More and more polls make it plausible that Donald Trump could actually beat Joe Biden in 2024 and serve a second term. NBC's new poll of more than 1,000 voters is just the latest. It showed Trump narrowly ahead, 46 to 44 percent.
Meet the Press host Kristen Welker said "this is significant because this is the first time in the history of our poll that former President Trump beats President Biden, still within the margin of error but still significant." NBC political analyst Steve Kornacki agreed: "Yeah, in 2019, 2020 when Trump was president he trailed all of them. This year he's trailed all of them in our poll. First time in more than a dozen polls we've seen a result like this."
They can panic because Biden has lost an advantage on likeability to Trump. That’s gotta smart. And he’s losing to Trump narrowly in the 18 to 34 age range.
Joe Scarborough reacted with contempt toward his own employer's poll. It’s garbage! Don’t listen to pollsters right now! This sounds like he’s just repeating words fed to him by Joe Biden, who never trusts a poll when he's losing.
On Jen Psaki's MSNBC show, Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-Illinois) claimed people aren’t paying any attention right now, but eventually the voter wisdom will crystallize and everyone will realize Trump is a tinpot dictator and Biden is a very empathetic embodiment of American democracy.
This is their line, that Democrats are Democracy and Trump is Autocracy. They’re pinning their hopes on this line. And it’s obnoxious. Because if Biden loses, that’s a democratic election isn’t it? Let’s say Trump wins by Biden’s 2020 margin in the popular and electoral vote. If they say democracy lost, aren’t they the democracy deniers, the election deniers? It wouldn't be the first time.
