The View Decries Hunter Gun Charges: All Addicts 'Lie,’ 'Commit Crime'

September 15th, 2023 2:54 PM

One would think the liberal ladies of ABC’s The View would support the felony charges against Hunter Biden since gun laws were finally being enforced on someone who allegedly committed a felony by lying on his background check form. But since they were backing his daddy for president, they needed to treat him like the victim. Their defenses ranged from calling the charges a “political prosecution” to writing them off because all addicts “lie” and “commit crime” so it’s no “big deal.”

According to moderator Joy Behar, the felony gun charges were somehow a form of “political retribution” against the Biden family. “So, it's been a rough week for the Biden, hasn't it?” she lamented as she falsely claimed the impeachment inquiry into President Biden was based on “unproven claims” of wrongdoing.

Racist co-host Sunny Hostin huffed that federal prosecutors were making a “big deal” out of the fact he lied on a form (that warns the signee that lying is a felony) to get a gun. “But what is making me a little uncomfortable about the Hunter Biden case is that 99 percent of these cases where you have someone that applies for a firearm and they hide the fact that they're addicted don't get prosecuted,” she overstated reality.

The fact that Hunter wrote about being on and addicted to drugs at the time he bought the gun (something he had confirmed in a TV interview), was evidence not often present in those other possible cases.

Faux conservative Ana Navarro took a more ludicrous defensive position. According to her, Hunter shouldn’t be charged because, like all addicts, “he was in a bad place.” She also wrote off his alleged crime because all addicts “lie” and “commit crime,” and it’s something many relate to:

NAVARRO: Going back to the Hunter thing and the gun charge, federal gun charges against him. So look, he was in the throes of addiction. He was in a very bad place. There's something like at least a third of American families including my own who have had to deal with loved ones in the throes of addiction.

HOSTIN: Yeah.

NAVARRO: And you know what, they do really stupid sh— choices

SARA HAINES: And they lie. They lie

NAVARRO: They lie. They commit crime. Hunter Biden did that. He filled out this form. He's not claiming that he didn't.

Without evidence, Hostin blurted out that the gun was “unloaded” the entire time Hunter had it.

And even though Hunter was able to buy a firearm by lying on the background check form, faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin bloviated that, “As one of the 80 percent of Republicans who do support background checks” she felt “this is an example of background checks working.” She went on to hollowly back the charges as if the background check system had caught Hunter in the act.

“This is the only time Republicans don't want someone to have a gun,” Navarro chided, proving their own hypocrisy. This was backed up by Hostin who LIED about there being states that didn’t require background checks to purchase a gun: “I was just about to say that. I mean, all of a sudden this should be indicted, yet you have states where you can open carry without even applying for a gun so that's the hypocrisy. It kills me.”

Farah Griffin flaunted her ignorance of the law and used it as an opportunity to bash Republican lawmakers. “That’s despite what 80 percent of Republicans actually say they want, which is background checks. That’s a Fox News poll. Our elected leaders are not in sync with us,” she pontificated instead of calling out the lie.

The View’s objection to the law being applied equally to President Biden’s son was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from CarShield and Febreze. Their contact information is linked.

JOY BEHAR: So, it's been a rough week for the Biden, hasn't it?

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah.

BEHAR: Awful. First the Republicans, they moved with their impeachment inquiry. That was number one into the president over unproven claims of involvement in Hunter's business dealings. They have not proven anything yet and been on it for what, four years now.

HOSTIN: Five.

BEHAR: Then yesterday Hunter was hit with three charges of his own for allegedly making false statements and illegally possessing a handgun. So some people think this is what they call political retribution because the Democrats are going after Trump.

HOSTIN: And I do think that, you know, no one should be above the law, whether you're the president or you’re the president's son and I believe that firmly. But what is making me a little uncomfortable about the Hunter Biden case is that 99 percent of these cases where you have someone that applies for a firearm and they hide the fact that they're addicted don't get prosecuted. 99 percent.

BEHAR: They don't?

HOSTIN: No and out of those investigated and convicted, they only get a warning. So, the fact that, you know, they're making this a big deal and felony charges, I think that's political prosecution.

ANA NAVARRO: Going back to the Hunter thing and the gun charge, federal gun charges against him.

He actually had the gun for 11 days because at that time --

HOSTIN: It was unloaded!

HAINES: And no crime was committed.

NAVARRO: At that time, he was in such a bad place and had hit rock bottom to such a place he was dating his dead brother's widow. And that woman took the gun away and threw it into a garbage can because she was afraid he would kill himself. So, this was a man who was in the rock bottom.

BEHAR: I was reading today. He was one of the kids who was in the car when a sibling and his mother were killed. Joe Biden's first wife and child. He was traumatized by that. He probably has a lot of survivor guilt and all that. He needs therapy.

[Crosstalk]

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: As one of the 80 percent of Republicans who do support background checks, this is an example of background checks working. And addicts should not be able to get a gun. And the fact – I do think that – What the conviction ends up being, that we mains to be seen. I do think he should be indicted on this and I don't think you should have addicts who are able to easily—

NAVARRO: This is the only time Republicans don't want someone to have a gun.

[Cheers and applause]

BEHAR: I thought of that too.

HOSTIN: I was just about to say that. I mean, all of a sudden this should be indicted yet you have states where you can open carry without even applying for a gun so that's the hypocrisy. It kills me.

FARAH GRIFFIN: That’s despite what 80 percent of Republican actually say they want, which is background checks. That’s a Fox News poll. Our elected leaders are not in sync with us.

BEHAR: You know, back in the day, Alyssa, when I was younger, once the Black Panthers got guns, all sorts of gun control.
