Katie Phang for Komissar Of The Ministry Of Truth!
On her MSNBC show on Sunday, Phang denounced Fox News for scheduling a town hall with Donald Trump. Whatever the liberal media might hate about Trump, he is currently the leading candidate—by far—for the Republican presidential nomination. Which makes what he has to say kinda, you know, newsworthy.
Even more bizarrely, Phang was also furious at CNN for scheduling a town hall with . . . Mike Pence—the man who rejected Trump's demand that he refuse to certify the results of the 2020 election!
Incredibly, beyond even that, it seems that Phang wants the MSM to silence all Republican candidates! As she plaintively put it to former Dem Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell:
"What does it tell you that there are media outlets that are providing platforms for potential GOP primary candidates to be able to get out and just sell their wares?"
Yes, the last thing you'd want in the People's Republic of MSNBC is for wrong-thinkers to be permitted to "sell their wares" to the public! But not to worry: Komissar Katie will fix all that! Or should we address her as Kim Jong Phang?
Note: Perhaps realizing Phang might have taken things a tad too far in calling for the media to silence all Republican presidential candidates, Mucarsel-Powell focused her fire exclusively on the notion of giving TV time to Trump. She decried media "acting as if it's business as usual, politics as usual. No. We are on, really, the last line of defense here for our democracy, and our freedoms."
Right on, Debbie! Because nothing says defending our freedoms like banning a presidential candidate from television!
On her MSNBC show, Katie Phang denouncing other networks for giving airtime to Republican presidential candidates was sponsored in part by Verizon, Samsung, Flonase, Procter & Gamble, maker of Herbal Essence, and Subway.
Here's the transcript.

The Katie Phang Show

8:10 am EDTKATIE PHANG: I've got a minute left. But I did want to ask you, what does it tell you that Donald Trump is actually going to be doing a townhall that is going to air, it's going to be on Fox News, after Fox got tagged with a $787.5 million defamation settlement for promoting the Trump big lie about the 2020 election? You know, a big part of Trump is his megaphone, his ability to get out to supporters.
Mike Pence! He's going to have a CNN townhall. What does it tell you that there are media outlets that are providing platforms for potential GOP primary candidates to be able to get out and then just sell their wares, I guess?
DEBBIE MUCARSEL-POWELL: I mean it is so extremely dangerous, Katie, that they're normalizing the former president that was impeached twice. Someone that incited an insurrection in our Capitol. It was actually a self-attempted coup of our government, so that he could remain in office.
And they're acting as if, as if it's business as usual, politics as usual. No. We are on, really, the last line of defense here for our democracy, and our freedoms. And it's extremely dangerous. It doesn't surprise me, right, I mean, I think Fox is doing it for the hits, for the power, for the money. And we'll see what happens. But I think Americans need to be very, very, weary of all of this. We cannot normalize insurrections We cannot normalize political violence. It has to stop.
PHANG: Florida Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, as always, it is so good to see. Thank you for being here. Please come back. We have so much to talk about. But I appreciate you starting us off this morning.
MUCARSEL-POWELL: Thank, you, Katie.
