Despite poor-quality candidates limiting GOP victories in the midterms, Republicans were set to take control of the House and could still take the Senate. But still, the cast of ABC’s The View were lecturing Republicans on Thursday about what their victory meant and suggested that Americans didn’t care about inflation; as they whined about not having a “supermajority.”
Leading into the segment, co-host Whoopi Goldberg optimistically thought, “This actually could be the beginning of a new era in which American politics actually gets back to the – the job of looking after our country. All of us together.”
She then suggested it was still too early to say the GOP won and lectured them on what lessons they needed to learn:
And with the GOP, you know, the GOP can still – are set to take over the House supposedly. It's a little early to celebrate, I think, but I think the feeling that people got, the GOP I feel said, “Uh-oh. We should have been paying closer attention to what the people wanted instead of telling them what we were going to do.”
“And stop worshipping at the shrine of ‘Trumpty Dumpty,’” Joy Behar declared while holding up a copy of the New York Post. “Don (who couldn’t build a wall) had a great fall – can all the GOP’s men put the party back together again?” the cover read.
Following up Behar, racist Sunny Hostin praised President Biden for not talking about “crime, inflation, and immigration” because those were not real issues but rather “Republican talking points.”
Citing unspecified exit polls, Hostin claimed none of those were top issues for Americans. “[Biden] had his finger on the pulse of what the everyday American needed, and he explained that our democracy was at stake, and if you look at the exit polls, the two biggest issues, number one, saving our democracy, number two, women's health care rights,” she proclaimed, without evidence.
Inflation and the economy not being the top concern for Americans was a BIG LIE. Even liberal outlets have conceded inflation was the largest concern. According to CNN from Wednesday, “[s]oaring prices were top of mind for voters as they cast ballots in this year’s midterm elections … Nearly a third of voters said inflation was the issue that mattered most in deciding how they voted for House candidates. And more than 7 in 10 of them opted for Republicans.”
A short time later, Behar took up her routine, elitist gripe that American voters weren’t acting in their own self-interest. “[O]n the one hand, you have a party that tries to save health care, that tries to save your right to vote … that tries to save the planet and we still don't have a supermajority?!” she shouted.
“There is still half of this country is not paying attention to their own needs,” she scolded Americans.
