On Cross's MSNBC Show: 'We Are At War' With Republicans—They Are 'Evil'

Those horrible, violence-provoking, Republicans! Calling Democrats "evil." Describing them as "the enemy." Declaring, "we are at war" with Democrats! Even urging Republicans to "keep hitting, keep pounding."

What a terrible threat to our democracy, those Republicans! Using such bellicose, violent rhetoric toward Democrats! 

What, you say? It wasn't a Republican saying that about Democrats? It was a Democrat, saying that about Republicans? On MSNBC? 

That can't be! As we all know, Democrats are all about protecting our democracy. They revere the tradition of the peaceful transition of power. And they abhor violence in word and deed!

And yet . . . 

 

On MSNBC's The Cross Connection on Saturday morning, in a segment reacting to Biden's hyper-partisan speech on Thursday night, there was liberal pundit Roland Martin, a frequent guest on the show, making this stirring call to arms to his fellow Democrats:

Pastor Charles Jenkins has an intro to his song, War, where he says, 'when the enemy is coming at you you, can't fall down, you can't break down. This means war.'

That is where we are. We are at war with these people. These folks are evil. They have allowed evil into their house with Donald Trump. He has now dominated the party. This evil is spreading. And when you are in a war footing, you have to respond accordingly. 

It's about time President Joe Biden decided to get tough. It's about time his advisers stopped being weak, and stopped being impotent, and not fighting back.

Well, guess what Democrats? Guess what Biden? Guess what Jaime Harrison, Schumer, Pelosi, and everyone else. You keep hitting! You keep pounding. 

Because this is about the future of our children. I've got 13 nieces and nephews. And I be damned if I'm gonna leave a country for them run by these crazed, deranged folks who want to import evil in every facet of our society.

Yikes! 

And note that Martin wasn't singling out ultra-MAGA Republicans as "evil." In inviting Martin to comment, Cross explicitly said that Trump's followers are "mainstream, establishment Republicans [who] are echoing these calls for violence. All but threatening it."

And far from admonishing Martin for his martial rhetoric, Cross agreed with him: "yeah—it's a scary thing to think about. Really."

On Twitter, Martin sounded like an angry drunk, daring anyone at Fox News to fight him:
