The View Decries Capitol Police Exonerating Loudermilk With True Probe

June 16th, 2022 2:02 PM

With the Democrat-led January 6 Committee dredging up the long-debunked conspiracy theory that Republicans Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA) was involved in helping the Capitol rioters plan the attack, ABC’s The View had all they needed to gaslight their viewers with lies and disinformation designed to smear Republicans. They even lashed out at the Capitol Police who exonerated Loudermilk after their own investigation found that neither he nor anyone in the tour group did anything wrong.

“So, Loudermilk insists, like last night, that the Capitol Police already investigated and found nothing shady, and he doubled down that it was just a wholesome family tour,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg announced in a mocking accent.

Following a soundbite of Loudermilk on Fox News explaining the nature of the tour group and how the Capitol Police had investigated and found no wrongdoing, self-proclaimed “Republican” Ana Navarro, who’s not known for her oversized wit, proclaimed Loudermilk should change his name to “lying butter.”

Then, without evidence, Navarro went on a quick unhinged rant about how the rioters supposedly “had inside help” from members of Congress and the Supreme Court to take over the building:

Listen, the bottom line is this, it should be so troubling to all of us just how far the tentacles of January 6 extent; into the Supreme Court, into the White House, into the Capitol, into Congress. They had inside help. They were there casing the place out. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that. You can see it plainly, and it was such a widespread conspiracy with so many people complicit aiding and abetting to try to stage this insurrection.

It was “such a widespread conspiracy” that the Capitol Police didn’t find anything wrong with Loudermilk and the tour? Or, Ana, are you suggesting that even the Capitol Police are in on it?

That seemed to be the suggestion from co-host Sunny Hostin a short time later when she expressed her bewilderment that the Capitol Police would announce the facts. “I don't understand why they did release a statement that said, ‘well, we've investigated this and there's nothing to see here.’ That part does actually concern me,” she fretted.

Gripping her tinfoil hat as tightly as she could, Hostin praised the committee for battling the Capitol Police. “And I'm not sure why they did that, but then in response to that, the January 6 Committee released some of that video that we saw,” she touted.

And just like that, the Capitol Police, who were portrayed as the bravest of paladins fighting off the Trumpist hoards, were suddenly relegated to the trash and called liars just because the Democrats on the committee have a false narrative to weave.

“Tell the truth. He was casing the joint is what he was doing,” co-host joy Behar sneered. And putting together the pieces of the supposed puzzle in the way only she could, Behar suggested Loudermilk needed to go on the tour so he could “see where is Nadler's office, and where is Pelosi's office, so that he could tip off these insurrectionists.”

As they were going to a commercial break, Hostin was forced to read their fourth legal note of the week by ABC’s standards and practices. “Congressman Loudermilk has denied any wrongdoing and accused the committee of a smear campaign, claiming no one in his January 5 tour group has been criminally charged in relation to January 6,” she read as Behar and Goldberg were hootin' and hollerin' with their side commentary suggesting it was only a matter of time until they’re all charged (for what, they didn’t say).

“They have all their stuff in order,” Goldberg touted the committee as the play-off music sounded. “Here's the proof. How you can deny stuff that's on tape, always knocks me out.”

The real question is, how can any sane or non-politically motivated person look at the Capitol Police’s findings and still push a debunked conspiracy theory?

This conspiracy theory peddling was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from CarShield and Crest. Their contact information is linked.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, Loudermilk insists, like last night, that the Capitol Police already investigated and found nothing shady, and he doubled down that it was just a wholesome family tour.

JOY BEHAR: [Scoffs and laughs]

ANA NAVARRO: First of all, Loudermilk should be called lying butter.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah.

NAVARRO: Right? [Applause] And, you know, I have been in the Capitol a bunch of times. I got to tell you. I've never seen people go through -- take pictures of the magnetometer.

GOLDBERG: Or the hallway.

NAVARRO: Or the hallways, or the staircases. The children's artwork hangs in the tunnels.

HOSTIN: The truth doesn’t morph link that.

BEHAR: Exactly.

HOSTIN: And so you know that he’s lying.

GOLDBERG: No, the truth is the truth.

HOSTIN: The truth is the truth it doesn’t morph. And I think the problem is which I think you alluded to in your opening, Whoopi, is that he has refused to testify in front of the committee, but he's testifying on Fox News. Right? And he's morphing the truth over and over again, or the alleged truth.

And I agree, Ana. Shouldn't we be really concerned about the fact that he's relying on these different versions, he’s testifying on Fox News. And the Capitol Police though, I don't understand why they did release a statement that said, ‘well, we've investigated this and there's nothing to see here.’ That part does actually concern me.

BEHAR: Did they say that the next day when he showed up on January 6?

HOSTIN: They just said it recently. They just released a statement recently saying that they did review all of the video footage and they didn't find that this was sort of a recognizance [sic] tour. And I'm not sure why they did that, but then in response to that, the January 6 Committee released some of that video that we saw.

GOLDBERG: So, I guess perhaps it was a tour. Perhaps it was a three-hour tour. A three-hour tour.

[Applause]

HOSTIN: So, he should testify. Bottom line, he should testify because now that's discrepancy.

BEHAR: Tell the truth. He was casing the joint is what he was doing. He was going to see where is Nadler's office, and where is Pelosi's office, so that he could tip off these insurrectionists. You saw these people, where they had to go.

GOLDBERG: So you're -- you got to milk this cow.

HOSTIN: Yes. I have a legal note.

BEHAR: Louder. Louder.

HOSTIN: Congressman Loudermilk has denied any wrongdoing and accused the committee of a smear campaign, claiming no one in his January 5 tour group has been criminally charged in relation to January 6.

BEHAR: Not yet.

GOLDBERG: Yet. Yeah. That's the thing. That's the thing. Listen, the truth comes out in the wash. They have all their stuff in order. That's why they can send these things out and say, oh, you say this didn't happen? Here's the proof. How you can deny stuff that's on tape, always knocks me out.
