The Rev. Al Sharpton targeted the liberal elite in a fiery anti-woke sermon on inflation.
Sharpton pummeled woke elitists during his appearance on the April 11 edition of MSNBC’s Morning Joe. The topic was the Democratic outlook for the 2022 midterms (Spoiler alert: it was not good). “These Beltway elitists, these limousine liberals here in New York, don’t live in the real world, and blacks have to, and browns have to deal with the real world every day.”
Sharpton also gave Democrats in control of Congress and the White House a stark wake-up call. “Just remember that all of this happened while the Democrats were in power,” he said. “You told us to put you in power, we put you in power, and now I can’t afford the life I’m living. You’ve got to tell me how you’re going to deal with that because I put you in power there to understand me, not to preach to me.”
Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough also took aim at Democrats who live in the bubble of Washington, D.C. “[L]et me say it slowly for my Democratic friends in Washington, D.C.: Black voters are more conservative than you are, white woke leaders in Washington, D.C.”
Minorities like Hispanics and Asian-Americans are generally “more conservative on crime” than white woke voters, Scarborough said. “They’re more conservative on education. They’re more conservative on ‘these woke issues.’ Get off of Twitter!”
Scarborough pleaded with Sharpton to knock some sense into “white woke leaders.”
“Can you explain to white woke leaders” that they’re not just losing “white dudes” in the “upper Midwest,” but also people of color? Scarborough asked.
Sharpton agreed and continued to lambast Democrat elitists: “They’re losing people of color because they really don’t get the people of color’s life,” Sharpton said. “If you are living in a city, in a neighborhood that is inundated with crime, and you act like that is not an issue, you’ve already lost me. That is an issue.”
Sharpton also slammed leftist politicians who have been weak on crime. “You cannot ignore when 12-year-old kids” are killed, and “you act like that’s a non-issue because you’re too elitist to live on the ground.”
He explained that many Americans live in fear of crime and suffer from inflation “that is killing us.”
