The View celebrated Presidents Day Monday, opening the show with a loving video tribute to President Biden. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg boasted they could fully celebrate the holiday now because they finally had a president they were proud of, as she teed up a gooey video montage:
Today's Presidents Day, and it's been a long time coming for all of us here on The View, because we finally have a president in office who we're honored to celebrate. Plus, our other relationship with President Biden goes way back before he became number 46. Take a look.
ABC played several clips from when Biden was Vice President coming onto The View to receive hugs and flirtatious questions from the hosts over the years, followed by more serious clips showcasing him offering empathy and hope to the hosts when he was running for president:
This #PresidentsDay, we look back at our time with Pres. Joe Biden on @TheView and the conversations with him long before he became the 46th president of the United States. https://t.co/f8u2wbJuik pic.twitter.com/8nunnSrPN1

Afterwards, Joy Behar raved, “He’s adorable!”
Sounding like she was talking about her new boyfriend more than the President of the United States, Behar continued gushing, with help from her equally enamored co-hosts:
JOY BEHAR: He’s so, he’s so genuine, and sweet and lovely and funny--
SARA HAINES: Good sense of humor!
BEHAR: --everything you want in a man and in a President! You know? He’s great, and he’s right for these times, he’s perfect for these times.
HAINES: That was cathartic to watch!
BEHAR: I’m glad we have him.
SUNNY HOSTIN: Just decent. Nice.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: I think that’s why he didn’t win before. Because it wasn’t his time. Because he was going to be needed later on, and so you know. I have to say he’s a great riding buddy if you’re on the train. You know? I love riding--I catch up with him back and forth on the train. He’s just a great guy, a real guy.
Behar added that Biden was “all of our presidents [sic].”
Perhaps not surprising considering the show spent much of 2020 propping up his presidential campaign.
Do you know how The View celebrated Trump's first Presidents Day in office, four years ago? They celebrated his “scandal free” predecessor who “saved the economy:”
WHOOPI: It is Presidents Day. So, on today's Black History Month FYI, we are saluting the first black President of the United States, Barack Obama. [ Cheers and applause ]
And for all of those who question -- continue to question his track record, here are a few of his accomplishments -- he brought the country back from the brink of financial disaster after big banks almost caused the economy to collapse. He saved over a million jobs by bailing out the American auto industry. He gave health care to over 30 million Americans with the Affordable Care Act. He ended the war in Iraq, and ordered the raid that killed terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden.
In his second term, he fought to make same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states. Issued a wide-ranging executive actions on climate change, immigration, and initiated sanctions against Russia for their atrocities in the Ukraine. So, if you want to know what a president does, that's what a president does! [cheers and applause]
SARA HAINES: You tell ‘em Whoopi!
…
JOY BEHAR: This guy Trump is in office what three weeks -- how many weeks is it? And he's already had so much going wrong already. So many scandals. Obama, eight years, not one hint of scandal, nothing.
