The View hosts were back Monday, still sounding more like CNN every day with their crazy conspiracy theories about President Trump. This time, co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin spread unnecessary fear into their viewers by insisting that President Trump was “attempting a coup” like “dictators do” by contesting the election results by asking for recounts and taking to court their concerns about alleged voter fraud.
As the hosts wailed about Trump’s lawsuits, Whoopi declared this “feels like, like they’re attempting a coup to me, Sunny.” She added, “I know everybody doesn't want to hear that, but that's what dictators do when they try to say this election isn’t real. This didn’t happen, I'm going to to change it,” before asking fellow co-host Sunny Hostin to back her up.
The ABC legal analyst and hack of course agreed. “I have to agree with you on that, Whoopi. It feels very much like what we see in countries where there are dictators. We see these coups. We see these attempts to really overturn-- to steal elections, and I think that's what we're seeing here,” she fretted.
Maybe the hosts need to look up what a “coup” actually means. Here’s the dictionary definition: “a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government.” Not only are the lawsuits legal, but are they honestly suggesting Trump is going to use violence to hole himself up in the White House come January if these lawsuits don’t change the results?
Whoopi doubled down on her statement to end the segment: "This is -- I'm sorry. This is an attempted coup. This is what dictators do when they want to take a country away from its people." She worried that Trump might be successful in his "coup" if Republicans don't stand up to the president: "[S]omebody better step up before you suddenly turn around and they have taken the country, and now you have no recourse. You don't have a recourse. Either we fix it now or he's going to walk away with it!"
Later on the hosts shared more hate for the president and his supporters. Whoopi hoped the media would stop paying attention to him:
Once you-know-who finally does get out of the White House, if ever, what is the media going to do? Are they going to have a lot of air time to fill? Because almost 74 million people apparently voted for him, so can the constant coverage of him just stop?
Ana Navarro and Joy Behar bragged they would be “unfollowing” President Trump’s Twitter, while Navarro ranted, “We should all stop following him because at that point the things he tweets out are no longer presidential statements. It's just an old, windbag loser tweeting out whatever stream of consciousness he has,” she spewed.
But Hostin lamented that “racist, misogynist, transphobic, homophobic” President Trump would continue to have influence:
Well, I think Trumpism is here to stay, quite frankly. Like you said, Whoopi and Joy, over 70 million people voted for him in spite of the fact they knew he was racist, and misogynist, transphobic, homophobic, and they voted for him anyway. It just seems to me that people's hearts and minds don't change that quickly, and if we stop talking about President Trump, then, you know, I'm always fearful that past becomes prologue, right? When you forget about the past, it can happen again and again and again, and I do think that we're seeing someone that is trying to avenge, you know, Joe Biden's election, someone who is bankrupt when it comes to morality, and the bottom line is this could happen again….

11:07 a.m. EasternWHOOPI GOLDBERG: Right, and there's so much disinformation coming out about these crazy court cases that he keeps doing, and what's happening in Michigan right now. I mean, it feels like -- like they're attempting a coup to me, Sunny. I know everybody doesn't want to hear that, but that's what dictators do when they try to say this election isn’t real. This didn’t happen, I'm going to to change it. What do you think is happening, Sunny? Particularly in Michigan and in Georgia?
SUNNY HOSTIN: I have to agree with you on that, Whoopi. It feels very much like what we see in countries where there are dictators. We see these coups. We see these attempts to really overturn-- to steal elections, and I think that's what we're seeing here….I want to mention that I have a friend, Wesley, who lives in Japan, and he texted me this over the weekend. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Just got into an argument with my host father in Japan who now believes the election was stolen. Someone has built an entire misinformation campaign to delegitimatize the election results in the United States, and he attached to his text, tons of messages in Japanese. In Japanese. So this is what's happening. It's being disseminated across the world, not only here.
WHOOPI: Yes.
HOSTIN: It's just despicable.
WHOOPI: This is -- I'm sorry. This is an attempted coup. This is what dictators do when they want to take a country away from its people. Now, you know, 21 people are sitting around saying, you know, he's not -- he's not, you know, he lost, he lost, he lost. You all -- somebody better step up before you suddenly turn around and they have taken the country, and now you have no recourse. You don't have a recourse. Either we fix it now or he's going to walk away with it because his lies are many, and they go farther and farther and farther, and it doesn't matter what we seem to say here because the lies seem to quadruple as soon as we speak, then they have a lie to block it.
