The View co-hosts showed how they live in an alternate reality on Wednesday’s show by declaring the 2020 election was a big win for far-left Democrats.
Discussing who they wanted in Joe Biden's cabinet, co-host Joy Behar proposed his wife for Education Secretary before touting how Americans supposedly want more progressives in the White House. She gave a laundry list of ideas that Americans are supposedly all on board with, such as defunding the police:
Well, the Progressives have very good ideas, and the American people agree with the Progressive ideas. They want health care to be affordable and readily available. They want somebody to take care of the fact that the climate is changing, and to have respect for science. They want allocation of funds, I would think if presented correctly, and not that you defund the police, but that you reallocate funds so that you have social workers and other important people dealing with problems and things like that.
Her co-host Sunny Hostin agreed, saying the cabinet should be racially diverse but also cater to the progressive, socialist wing of the Democrat party because that's what Americans want:
...[I] agree with Joy in that, you know, if you look at the -- this election, Progressive incumbents in swing districts overwhelmingly won re-election. Every incumbent that supported Medicare for All and co-sponsored Medicare for All in a swing district kept their seat, and also these Progressive, you know, people that are calling them Progressive ideas or socialist ideas, those ideas won convincing victories across the country, including in purple and red states. Voters in Florida as Sara mentioned, passed a $15 an hour minimum wage. Four states legalized marijuana. There was a poll that Americans support Progressive policies which are higher minimum wage, free college, paid maternity lead, government funding for child care, tuition-free college, and so really I think that this administration needs to reflect those views because America has spoken. Those are the views that America supports. Not this sort of conservative right wing agenda. That's just not true.
Hostin didn’t mention how voters in progressive California voted against several Democrat propositions. Nor did she or her co-hosts mention that Democrats were in a frenzy after seeing their candidates lose congressional races they “should’ve won” across the country. Some even admitted publicly that socialism and defund the police cost them dearly this election. The Washington Post also lamented how socialism, defund the police and Medicare for All hurt Democrats in an “undeniably disappointing election,” particularly in the House where Dems lost several seats. Even MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell was ticked off that socialism ‘memes’ hurt Democrats.
Also, as David Harsanyi of National Review noted, if the far-left agenda resonated with Americans, why did Joe Biden have to walk back many of his progressive promises such as banning fracking, the Green New Deal, defunding police and gun confiscation? Why did he suddenly become more vocal about condemning looting and rioting as the election drew near?
But like the media polling predictions about a blue wave this election, don't count on The View hosts' political analysis to resemble reality anytime soon.

JOY BEHAR:
Yeah.
By the way, I just think that Jill Biden should be the Secretary of Education. She has a PhD in education and she's going back to the classroom, but I think she would be much more effective to take over for Betsy Devos who basically should be an eraser monitor at this point. Just be an eraser moderator at this point. That's the qualifications you have, darling.
WHOOPI: Right.
BEHAR: I would like to see Pete Buttigieg be the Ambassador to the United Nations. Give him any job, really. The man is so competent and so capable I think he could run the country if he had the chance. There are wonderful people in the democratic party, and I'm so happy that they're going to be in there pretty soon so that we can all relax.
WHOOPI: Mm-hmm. And so what should this administration look like in your mind, Sunny? Is it something we should wait and see what Joe is going to do, or should we be dictating it?
SUNNY HOSTIN: Well, you know, I certainly think that it should reflect not only the composition of our country in terms of diversity, but it also has to reflect the voters' values, and I agree with Joy in that, you know, if you look at the -- this election, Progressive incumbents in swing districts overwhelmingly won re-election. There was a poll that a majority of Americans support Progressive policies which are higher minimum wage, free college, paid maternity lead, government funding for child care, tuition-free college, and so really I think that this administration needs to reflect those views because America has spoken. Those are the views that America supports.
WHOOPI: Right.
HOSTIN: Not this sort of conservative right wing agenda. That's just not true.
