Not even a call for unity will stop Telemundo from putting a negative spin on anything related to the Trump administration. Telemundo White House Correspondent Cristina Londoño shredded the President's Oval Office address to the nation in a report for the network´s Un Nuevo Día morning kaffeeklatsch, wherein she insisted on describing it as “causing more confusion, more nervousness.”
This open editorial from the March 12, 2020 edition of the morning news show reveals Londoño´s unvarnished bias regarding the President's message, and confirms that objectivity appears to be extinct at Telemundo’s news room:
CRISTINA LONDOÑO: The President stated that we are not talking about a financial crisis, that the country has to unite, that together we will move forward, but the widespread reactions have been more confusion, more nervousness. Clearly, he did not achieve what he set out to accomplish with his Oval Office address. We're seeing a lot more nervousness.
Actually, what the president set out to do – and did – was to provide the nation's citizens with an overview of the proactive measures being taken by the White House in order to deal with and control the spread of the coronavirus IN the United States.
The “nervousness” the reporter alludes to is the one instilled by the likes of herself and the rest of the nation´s liberal media, intent on finding any way to blame Trump for all of the problems – including the coronavirus - not only of the United States, but of the world.
At MRC Latino, we will continue to expose such overt bias in Spanish-language media- the sort of bias that prefers to push its political agenda, rather than inform their audience with straightforward, subjective information - even when it is about a crucial subject such as the nation’s health and well-being.

NICOLE SUAREZ: The world rises to a new reality marked by the coronavirus crisis after being officially declared a pandemic. The spread of COVID-19 affects nearly 120,000 people worldwide, and the dead add up to nearly 4,300. The spread of the disease in the United States is evidenced daily. And it led President Trump to announce historic travel limitations in a message that did not go unnoticed for different reasons. We go to the nation´s capital where Cristina Londoño has the details. Good morning Cristina. Tell us about this small political earthquake unleashed by the President's words.
LONDOÑO: Well Nicole, I'm at the Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, one of the places where the last flights from Europe are coming in after the President announced the most drastic restrictions so far. He practically confirmed that the coronavirus was coming into the United States from abroad. But then he had to clarify that this restriction does not affect trade, nor Americans who are returning home. Let's hear what the President said.
DONALD TRUMP: To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight. These restrictions will be adjusted subject to conditions on the ground.
LONDOÑO: These restrictions do not apply to the United Kingdom. President Trump also had to clarify other points. For example, that insurers won´t be charged for coronavirus tests, but they will have to pay for the treatments of the illness. He had said otherwise in his speech, and also had to clarify this. The President stated that we are not talking about a financial crisis, that the country has to unite, that together we will move forward. But the widespread reactions have been more confusion and more nervousness.
