Morning Joe might consider adopting the Crosby, Stills & Nash hit as its theme song. Because a show that in the not-that-distant past was at times entertaining and even insightful has been reduced to nothing but an utterly predictable, and hence boring, Trump-trolling mess.
On Morning Joe, every day is Groundhog Day. But instead of Cher belting out "I Got You Babe," it's the panel singing the same—old—song, which might be entitled "We Hate Trump."
Take this morning—which could have been any morning—in which the opening segment was—yet again—a churlish medley of Trump trolling. Here are excerpts:
"A huge, huge, crushing defeat for Trump Republicanism . . . Is he uneducated, does the President not understand history?. . . It would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic . . . Spinning out of control . . . A patheticness to him . . . A caged animal . . . Behavior so much more aberrant than anything we've seen."
When a show gets this predictable in peddling its daily dose of loathing, does there come a point when even the inveterate Trump haters in its audience turn—and tune—off?
Perhaps Judy Blue Eyes again has some words of wisdom for Joe, Mika & Co.: "Don't let the past remind us of what we are not now."
